Is Jennifer Coolidge a complete dingbat in real life?
The reason I ask is, I have never seen her NOT acting like an off-the-wall dingbat.
She is a dingbat in her movies. She is a dingbat at awards shows. And now she is in a new Discover card commercial where she acts like ... a dingbat.
What is she like when she takes a meeting with a high powered producer?

It's called the epitome of a one trick pony.

She was one in White Lotus.

I agree she is a dingbat, but I can't help but find her amusing.

I find her amusing at times and less so at others. Her character in season 2 of White Lotus was more annoying than she was in season 1.

Funnily enough, she wasn’t at all that way in the role that first brought her, Stifler’s mom. She played it sultry, sexy Mrs Robinson, creating the very definition of MILF.

She's fat, right? Her tits make it hard to tell.

Well, she DID screw up the Bend & Snap!

She wasn't as loopy in Best in Show but she was different even then.

I think she’s drugged up most of the time.

[quote]Coolidge was raised in a small town in Massachusetts. She played the clarinet and went to orchestra camp for three summers as a child. She attended Norwell High School, the Cambridge School of Weston, and pursued higher education with studies at Emerson College in Boston and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. During college, Coolidge wanted to become a dramatic actress like Meryl Streep, but instead became a comedic character actress.

I believe that she is in on the joke.

Insufferable, more than I can tolerate. One can never accuse her of “stealing scenes” because she’s a fabulous actress, but rather, she is guilty of consistently upstaging other performers. She sucks the life out of every scene with her silly antics. Hated her in “White Lotus”. I’m glad she drowned.

Clearly it's working for her, she's had a great career. What's your damage OP?

The first radio commercial I heard her on, she introduced herself as "Jen Coolidge." It was so strange to hear her voice but not her full name. Subsequent commercials have her introducing herself as "Jennifer Coolidge."

I think she's been playing it up at awards ceremonies where her work for "The White Lotus" has been honored because she knows audiences love the Tania character and want to see her do it.
For the same reason, Catherine O'Hara would frequently accept awards on television for her work in "Schitt's Creek" doing the much beloved Moira Rose voice, although that's not O'Hara's real voice.

She lives in New Orleans when she's not working. Maybe that's where she takes a break from being a ditz.

She used to come in my shop in LA and was always funny and nice and spent lots of dough. I like her. Not as dingy in real life but still fun.

She's been playing that character for 20 years.

This reporter spent the weekend with her in New Orleans. She comes off as definitely offbeat but not at all a dingbat, and very nice.

She seemed pretty normal when she played one of Jerry’s girlfriends on “Seinfeld,” the massage therapist he tried to trick into massaging him for free.
