That's going a bit far. Thousands of family, friends, medical staff etc who witnessed what went on during AIDS are still alive and able to tell the real story. (Surely there are books and theses in which they have?)

I don't know what proportion of amateur nursing and sympathetic visiting during AIDS was done by lesbians v straight women, but surely there was a mix. The unicorn in the mix was straight men, who are useless in the face of most illness but were disproportionately freaked by AIDS, given their low level of susceptibility to it.

Bisexuals I don't mind. In the Venn diagram of something to do with homosexuals, they may be part-timers, but their is overlap.
