Best Hand Lotion/Cream

It’s cold and dry. What’s the best to heal up dry, cracking hands in this winter wonderland?

by Anonymousreply 31January 20, 2024 10:37 PM

CeraVe. If you're a bit more spendy, Avène Cicalfate+.

by Anonymousreply 1January 19, 2024 5:27 PM

CeraVe is the one that a lot of dermatologists recommend. Don't laugh, but I actually prefer Vaseline (brand) lotions. Specifically, the Nourishing Moisture lotion. It moisturizes and softens my skin so well and doesn't leave me feeling greasy.

After applying whatever cream or lotion you choose, wearing light white cotton gloves will hold the moisture in place. This is particularly helpful before bed.

If you try your cream both with or without subsequently wearing gloves while you sleep you will see the difference the next morning.

R3 do the same thing for my feet. The ankle socks worn overnight take the treatment to the next level. Was skeptical, but it really does work.

Hand masks really work. Let the serum sink in for 15-20 minutes and then put on a hand cream.

Kiehl’s

I use Ultimate Strength Hand Salve and Crème de Corps for my body

by Anonymousreply 6January 19, 2024 5:51 PM

Kiehl’s nurturing baby cream

Strivectin Crepe control hand cream

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour hand cream

by Anonymousreply 7January 19, 2024 5:52 PM

I use Kiehl’s Crème de Corps body lotion too

I like Eucerin Skin Calming Lotion in the big tube with the red cap. It's not greasy and if you use it several times a day it really makes a difference. At least it does for me. I also use it on my face.

by Anonymousreply 10January 19, 2024 5:54 PM

I use super cheap Eastern European 25-30% Urea cream on my feet. Then socks. Works wonders. The Cicalfate+ is specifically a repair cream. You put it on after little cosmetic surgeries, and put it on scabs, and burn after they have sealed. It really helps repair damage. So it wouldn't be a daily handcream all winter but it would totally help cracked skin.

I agree that vaseline is good daily hand cream.

Use Elizabeth Arden 8 hr cream for that r11

by Anonymousreply 12January 19, 2024 5:57 PM

CVS Laboring Hands hand cream. I use it year-round. I wash my hands about 50 times a day when at work. Aquaphor lotion for dry ankles and lower legs in winter.

by Anonymousreply 13January 19, 2024 5:58 PM

LavRoche-Posay Cicaplast hands

by Anonymousreply 14January 19, 2024 5:58 PM

The skin on my knuckles often cracks during the winter months because of how dry it is. I've managed to avoid that this season by putting a generous amount of Aquaphor on my hands at night. My hands are still dry and kind of rough, but at least I don't have to deal with the pain of split skin.

Liquid Gloves on top of Kiehl’s nurturing baby cream

by Anonymousreply 17January 19, 2024 6:01 PM

my legs get the CeraVe SA that comes in tubs. Also sometimes just cheap Spanish or Polish Urea creams. Urea has to be at least 10% do do anything. 15 is good. 30 only on tough skin like feet.

I’ve used Kiehl’s for years but I’ve recently discovered Topicrem from a french colleague. It’s great but not available everywhere but Amazon has it.

Gold Bond Healing lotion. Best I've used.

Kiehls GoldBond and Eucerin all have great products.

prunes are fun

by Anonymousreply 27January 20, 2024 5:28 PM

I get really dry skin in the winter, and my hands take a beating. Eucerin's "Original Healing Cream" does wonders (the cream, not the lotion). It's mostly mineral oil and petrolatum. Very thick, but it will heal dry skin. If you want something fancy/expensive, L'Occitane's pure shea butter is great (not just for the hands either)—they also have a shea-butter based hand cream that comes in a metal tube. Kiehl's hand salve is also effective and smells really nice, though I frankly think it's much more a lotion than a salve.

No Crack Super Hand Cream

Who can argue with that?

by Anonymousreply 30January 20, 2024 10:13 PM

I agree with Gold Bond Healing Cream hand cream - does a terrific job and not expensive
