OP, he's "speaking out" about gay men and separately about trans, not about the "LGBTQ+ community". He doesn't make any connection between gay and trans himself. The reason he's "speaking out" is because the stupid journalist is asking him about gays and trans for no reason other than to get him to say stupid things. We know there are people with these views and trying to put them on the spot in an attempted "gotcha" moment is not going to catch them out and prove them wrong or get them to change their minds.
