Is there any way to watch this without cable or Hulu? I mean some free way - some streaming website or something. Where my DL hackers at
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 14, 2024 4:48 PM |
It’s on the CW. All you need is an antenna…
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 14, 2024 4:49 PM |
Start a free trial and then cancel it after tonight. If you don’t have cable or an antenna to get the basic channels, do that.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 14, 2024 5:29 PM |
I don't believe I've ever seen this awards show. Do all the nominees usually show up? I'll check it out, I can always watch Episode 1 of True Detective later.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 14, 2024 7:07 PM |
R5 you were on the thread for this awards show last year. Please already
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 14, 2024 7:10 PM |
I love the awards season. It is really when Hollywood comes to life, and really when the stars shine bright!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 14, 2024 7:20 PM |
Do you think Jo Koy will be watching his ex host tonight?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 14, 2024 7:23 PM |
Jo Koy is upset at people not liking his jokes.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 14, 2024 7:24 PM |
The critics choice awards are not that prestige and just try to predict the Oscar’s, but I’ll still watch because I have nothing better to do.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 14, 2024 7:44 PM |
No thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 14, 2024 7:50 PM |
The Critics Choice have become a main awards show. Yes, the celebs show up for this one. It’s become one of the mainstream awards shows.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 14, 2024 8:04 PM |
The celebs show up but deep down they have to know this show is a fake prestige show just trying to predict the Oscar’s. I remember Anne Hathaway dragged them for spelling her name wrong on the award lol
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 14, 2024 8:12 PM |
R6 I don't recall that at all, you just want to fight.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 14, 2024 8:16 PM |
It’s become one of the big awards. Whether you like it or not. They wouldn’t show up otherwise.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 14, 2024 8:17 PM |
Half of their voters are vapid Oscar prognosticators, not real critics. People who just blather on about Oscars all year long and half their brains are filled up with ridiculous statistics like how many third children from Paraguay have won awards on their seventh nomination. Of course that's the state of "criticism" these days.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 14, 2024 9:15 PM |
R17 their voters are only people who are a part of the Critics Association, and you have to be a broadcast, print, and/or digital journalist to be a part of it.
I can’t vote just because I review a film on my personal blog.
So you’re half right. Some of them do just go on and on about awards shows but they’re actually professional critics.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 14, 2024 9:22 PM |
I'm ready for the fashion show.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 14, 2024 9:48 PM |
The red carpet started. Ruffalo needs a haircut.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 14, 2024 10:01 PM |
There should be an Awards Channel which also includes the red carpet. They can fill the rest of the time with vintage presentations.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 14, 2024 10:02 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 14, 2024 10:09 PM |
Broadcast Critics has lost its importance in the last few years. A lot of celebs don’t even attend it anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 14, 2024 10:10 PM |
R25 lmao. Why are you lying? All the stars are there
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 14, 2024 10:12 PM |
These bitches need sleeves.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 14, 2024 10:15 PM |
The CC awards were positioning themselves to take over the mantle of the Golden Globes, should their multiple scandals have ended them. Now that the Globes survived and are A list again, the CC are definitely what above poster described as fake prestige, and don’t manage quite the turnout of the Globes, but a lot of celebrities show up, and consider it an important stop on the way to the Oscars.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 14, 2024 10:15 PM |
Reese just said she has a part for Pedro.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 14, 2024 10:16 PM |

Tons of stars there.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 14, 2024 10:20 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 14, 2024 10:49 PM |
R42 that looks like a Thom Browne pattern on that suit.
That clothing is hideously expensive and weirdly androgynous. But one in 30 pieces looks really cool.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | January 14, 2024 10:52 PM |
R29 I have "a part" for him, too.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | January 14, 2024 10:53 PM |
Kieran Culkin and Matthew MacFayden. They skipped the red carpet (many did) and went straight inside.

by Anonymous | reply 80 | January 14, 2024 11:01 PM |
Ummm I thought Cooper was sober? They just showed him with a bottle of champagne in his hand
by Anonymous | reply 82 | January 14, 2024 11:02 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 99 | January 14, 2024 11:14 PM |

Is Jonathan Bailey a racist? He kissed all the white people and pulled away from the black person
by Anonymous | reply 114 | January 14, 2024 11:25 PM |
Jonathan Bailey didn’t deserve this award.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | January 14, 2024 11:26 PM |
I like Maria Bello's outfit. Good for Jonathan Bailey.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | January 14, 2024 11:26 PM |
I’ve always liked Maria Bello. I didn’t know she was in Beef.

The winners in the acting categories last year:
Best Actor: Brendan Fraser, The Whale
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett, TAR
Best Supporting Actor: Ke Huy Quan, Everything Everywhere All at Once
Best Supporting Actress: Angela Bassett, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
So they were 2/4 with the Oscars
by Anonymous | reply 118 | January 14, 2024 11:27 PM |
Has Lily Gladstone shamed white people yet?
by Anonymous | reply 119 | January 14, 2024 11:27 PM |
R119 give it a rest
by Anonymous | reply 120 | January 14, 2024 11:27 PM |
FYI: "Oppenheimer" is being re-released to theaters in February.
R119, We do that by ourselves just fine.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | January 14, 2024 11:28 PM |
I don't know why award shows did away with podiums, they used to have someplace to set their awards during their speeches.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | January 14, 2024 11:29 PM |
This man for the CW show is gorgeous
by Anonymous | reply 123 | January 14, 2024 11:29 PM |
Wow! Jonathan Bailey’s speech was so enthusiastic.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | January 14, 2024 11:30 PM |
Didn’t know Leo was there. I think he needs to settle down soon because these young girlfriend jokes are ruining his reputation I think.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | January 14, 2024 11:30 PM |
Is RDJ ill?
by Anonymous | reply 126 | January 14, 2024 11:31 PM |
So glad to see Bailey win, hope this puts more attention on the show.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | January 14, 2024 11:32 PM |
Is that Anniston next to Reese? Her face is fucked up.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | January 14, 2024 11:32 PM |
Jennifer Aniston needed a bit longer to let the facial work settle.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | January 14, 2024 11:33 PM |
R125 he arrived late. That’s why they didn’t show him during Her jokes about him.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | January 14, 2024 11:33 PM |
This show moves right along with the awards like the others should.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | January 14, 2024 11:35 PM |
DiCaprio doesn't want to piss off the critics, they may release some of the skeletons in his closet.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | January 14, 2024 11:37 PM |
It also starts at 7 (4PT) instead of 8, which is smart.

by Anonymous | reply 137 | January 14, 2024 11:39 PM |
When Anniston was on Friends her nose was smaller. Now it looks bigger. Maybe damage from coke?
Speaking of which, Brendan Fraser looks like he lost weight. He looks good, finally.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | January 14, 2024 11:39 PM |

Idgaf about tv
by Anonymous | reply 140 | January 14, 2024 11:40 PM |
Aniston’s nose was originally huge. She got a nose job because she was told she would never get work with her real nose
by Anonymous | reply 141 | January 14, 2024 11:41 PM |
Meryl Streep? Whatever. At least it's not "Abbott Elementary."
by Anonymous | reply 142 | January 14, 2024 11:41 PM |
The critics are always up Meryl’s ass
by Anonymous | reply 143 | January 14, 2024 11:42 PM |

Meryl was great on OMITB.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | January 14, 2024 11:43 PM |
Gosling also had a nose job years ago. He was told if he ever wanted to be a leading man in Hollywood he would need a leading mans face, and his nose was not the nose of a leading man and lessened the rest of his face. So he got a nose job.
by Anonymous | reply 147 | January 14, 2024 11:44 PM |

Weird how no one ever questions if Jeremy Allen White is actually good to be winning these awards but they are quick to question his costar winning…
by Anonymous | reply 200 | January 15, 2024 12:26 AM |
I question him, r200!
by Anonymous | reply 201 | January 15, 2024 12:27 AM |
Ryan Gosling looks especially handsome tonight. Margo Robbie is beautiful, but I hate that dress. Matt Bomer is extremely photogenic, he's gorgeous. I like what Emily Blount is wearing, and I always liked her UNTIL she talked about that woman's fat ass. I just love the ugly/ gorgeous/ oh so fuckable Jeremy Allen White.

R199 Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos

R200 because they want to fuck Jeremy

Greta finally wins and they don’t even present her award lol
by Anonymous | reply 205 | January 15, 2024 12:28 AM |
Why is Jennifer Aniston’s nose so huge?
by Anonymous | reply 206 | January 15, 2024 12:28 AM |
R204 no. Because he’s white so he must deserve these awards while his costar is black so it must be a diversity win.
Shes probably better on the show than he is.
by Anonymous | reply 207 | January 15, 2024 12:29 AM |
Matthew Macfadyen was robbed. Billy Crudup? What is this, 2019?
by Anonymous | reply 208 | January 15, 2024 12:29 AM |
Aniston had work done recently and it shows. Her face hasn’t settled yet. She looks swollen and bloated.
by Anonymous | reply 209 | January 15, 2024 12:29 AM |
Jeremy Allen White is a known quantity who was on Shameless for almost a decade, R200.
This chick has come out of nowhere, so it's natural people are questioning her sweep.
by Anonymous | reply 210 | January 15, 2024 12:30 AM |
Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski are unbearable.
by Anonymous | reply 211 | January 15, 2024 12:30 AM |
"Oppenheimer," famously a non-musical= "Best Score." 🎶❗

R208 the Succession actors probably canceled each other out
by Anonymous | reply 213 | January 15, 2024 12:30 AM |

Can the CW not afford to broadcast in high-def?
by Anonymous | reply 214 | January 15, 2024 12:31 AM |
R210 her sweep is for the shows second season. We’ve been familiar with her for over a year by now if you watch the show.

by Anonymous | reply 221 | January 15, 2024 12:32 AM |

Funny he doesn’t have the same sentiment for Ramsey.

R252 because they’re deserved.
Not all the winners have been the same.
by Anonymous | reply 254 | January 15, 2024 1:00 AM |
So I guess Lily Gladstone, Cillian Murphy, Christopher Nolan and Oppenheimer winning the final big four.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | January 15, 2024 1:00 AM |
Emily Blunt seems to think that she is Hollywood royalty now. Insufferable woman.

by Anonymous | reply 257 | January 15, 2024 1:02 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 258 | January 15, 2024 1:03 AM |
I agree with Oppenheimer to win Best Special Effects. They were impressive.
by Anonymous | reply 259 | January 15, 2024 1:06 AM |
I am rather upset about Matt Bomer not winning. At least he is the best looking man there.

by Anonymous | reply 270 | January 15, 2024 1:22 AM |
Aw, Beef again. Fellow Travelers should have won this one. It was such a compelling story of the political and emotional struggles caused by McCarthy’s Lavender Scare. It deserves attention so I hope a lot more people will watch it.
by Anonymous | reply 271 | January 15, 2024 1:25 AM |

Emma Stone is one of a kind actress. She does weird the best.
by Anonymous | reply 279 | January 15, 2024 1:31 AM |
Gold Derby predicted Emma Stone.
Now we shall see if it predicted correctly with "Best Actor":
Bradley Cooper. ❓
by Anonymous | reply 280 | January 15, 2024 1:32 AM |
Lily will probably win the Oscar so they can have their first Native American Best Actress winner
by Anonymous | reply 281 | January 15, 2024 1:32 AM |
I doubt Cooper is winning.
by Anonymous | reply 282 | January 15, 2024 1:32 AM |
Plus Emma already won an Oscar. Although in hindsight her win for La La Land felt unnecessary
by Anonymous | reply 283 | January 15, 2024 1:33 AM |
I’m tired of the “Emma already won”. Your point? Some actors have 3 and 4 Oscars. It’s about the best. Not how many you have.

"Another"?
by Anonymous | reply 298 | January 15, 2024 1:41 AM |
R295 I said this last week. You guys keep bringing Cooper up but he’s not in the race. It’s Paul vs Cillian.
by Anonymous | reply 299 | January 15, 2024 1:41 AM |
R297, Have you seen "Oppenheimer"?
by Anonymous | reply 300 | January 15, 2024 1:42 AM |
I prefer Cillian Murphy, I felt he really got the character. Not showy about it, either.
by Anonymous | reply 301 | January 15, 2024 1:42 AM |
It’ll probably be Giamatti who wins the Oscar. Murphy is too pretty for the academy voters
by Anonymous | reply 302 | January 15, 2024 1:43 AM |
They both deserve it. I prefer Cillian wins the Oscar but I’m ok with Paul winning. Cooper shouldn’t even be nominated.
by Anonymous | reply 303 | January 15, 2024 1:43 AM |
As if Blunt wasn't bad enough, now we have to suffer through her spouse Kraskinski.
by Anonymous | reply 304 | January 15, 2024 1:44 AM |
Giamatti is the actor's actor so he can definitely win at SAG and from there he can go all the way to the Oscars. Giamatti's work is vastly superior to both Murphy's and Cooper's.
by Anonymous | reply 305 | January 15, 2024 1:44 AM |
R294, This seems like 2023 re-dux:
GG, Butler; CC, Fraser; BAFTA, Butler; SAG, Fraser ---> Oscar, Fraser.
by Anonymous | reply 306 | January 15, 2024 1:44 AM |
As far as I'm concerned, Cooper shouldn't even be in the running. There's always been something about Giamatti that has turned me off so I will continue to root for Murphy.
by Anonymous | reply 307 | January 15, 2024 1:46 AM |
R305, Seriously? Tell us your favorite scene from "The Holdovers," because I don't believe you've seen it.
by Anonymous | reply 308 | January 15, 2024 1:46 AM |
Giamatti was good but the same as he is in everything.
by Anonymous | reply 309 | January 15, 2024 1:47 AM |
Fraser was the favorite to win last year.
by Anonymous | reply 310 | January 15, 2024 1:48 AM |
John Krasinski. Why??
by Anonymous | reply 311 | January 15, 2024 1:48 AM |

Yes. Cillian is very good and I can see hm winning the Oscar but I preferred Giamatti’s performance.
by Anonymous | reply 313 | January 15, 2024 1:49 AM |
In a movie titled "Oppenheimer," the "Best Director" should have been able to direct his lead into the "Best Actor" position.
by Anonymous | reply 314 | January 15, 2024 1:50 AM |
R312. And the Emmys air tomorrow...
The 2024 Emmy Awards will be held Monday, January 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. What channel are the Emmy Awards on in 2024? The 75th Annual Emmy Awards will air on Fox, while the pre-show red carpet coverage will air on E! starting at 6:00 p.m. ET (3:00 p.m. PT).
by Anonymous | reply 315 | January 15, 2024 1:50 AM |
R314 ummmm please. Just stop. We’ve had directors win and their film doesn’t win Best Picture. That is what matters. Not the actors winning.
by Anonymous | reply 316 | January 15, 2024 1:51 AM |
R310, Not until those awards were given out.
by Anonymous | reply 317 | January 15, 2024 1:51 AM |
Christopher Nolan. Love him as a director.

Dish Nation looks like a fun show. I might check it out.
by Anonymous | reply 320 | January 15, 2024 1:52 AM |
The Holdovers reminds me of the kind of art house film whose loss is being bemoaned in another thread. I can imagine it screening at the long-shuttered independent cinema where I saw so many wonderful films in the 90s.
by Anonymous | reply 321 | January 15, 2024 1:52 AM |
R316, ""Stop"? STOP?! STFU.
by Anonymous | reply 322 | January 15, 2024 1:53 AM |
Oppenheimer is obviously the best picture of the year. There's no question about it.

The Holdovers is a phenomenal movie. I LOVED it and didn’t expect to.
by Anonymous | reply 324 | January 15, 2024 1:54 AM |

SAG: Gladstone/Giamatti
BAFTA: Stone or Fuller/Murphy
Oscar: Gladstone/Giamatti

by Anonymous | reply 328 | January 15, 2024 1:57 AM |
You just know that every time Emily Blunt's face appeared onscreen in Oppenheimer, the Audience Enthusiasm Meter went way down.
by Anonymous | reply 329 | January 15, 2024 1:57 AM |
Bradley Cooper was never in the race. I knew the "Maestro" campaign would get a lot of backlash (I mean, "Bradley Cooper is the heir to Sidney Pollock"?! Bffr). I'm convinced they keep nominating him just to watch him lose over and over.
by Anonymous | reply 330 | January 15, 2024 1:58 AM |
I'm disappointed that Cillian Murphy didn't win Best Actor. He really connected me with the mind of J Robert Oppenheimer. When he saw for the first time what he invented, Murphy made the misgivings of that realization come to life.
by Anonymous | reply 331 | January 15, 2024 2:01 AM |
We will see what happens at SAG. That gives a better picture of who will win the Oscar. The Globes and Critics can go different routes and BAFTA does its own thing all the time.
by Anonymous | reply 332 | January 15, 2024 2:03 AM |
"Maestro"s already starting up with the SAG campaign! Lol.
by Anonymous | reply 333 | January 15, 2024 2:05 AM |
[quote]Bradley Cooper was never in the race.
R330=TAR
by Anonymous | reply 334 | January 15, 2024 2:08 AM |
Cooper wasn’t in the race r334. I’ve said this too. It was obvious he wasn’t winning. He’s 3rd in the list, same position he was in with A Star Is Born and you all kept trying to hype him up then too when it was obvious the race was between Rami and Christian Bale. Cooper was 3rd.
by Anonymous | reply 335 | January 15, 2024 2:12 AM |
I'm glad that Harrison Ford was honored, he's ok by me.
by Anonymous | reply 336 | January 15, 2024 2:13 AM |
The supporting categories are locked. The lead categories are more up in the air which is exciting. Unless a backlash develops, Oppenheimer is pretty safe for Best Picture. Nolan is the biggest lock of the night. Whatever happens I just hope Barbie underperforms and that its only acting nomination is for Gosling.
by Anonymous | reply 337 | January 15, 2024 2:13 AM |
R337, Margot was wonderful in Barbie, which was an interesting but flawed experiment.
by Anonymous | reply 338 | January 15, 2024 2:14 AM |
Some people think after tonight Ferrera is a lock
by Anonymous | reply 339 | January 15, 2024 2:15 AM |
Gosling is smug but I am glad Billie didn't win
by Anonymous | reply 340 | January 15, 2024 2:15 AM |
Hahaha Andrew Scott snubbed for a nomination here too. That overrated performance was laughably hammy.
by Anonymous | reply 341 | January 15, 2024 2:16 AM |
Annette Bening should have been nominated as Best Actress for "Nyad."
What's wrong with these critics?
by Anonymous | reply 342 | January 15, 2024 2:22 AM |
R339: They're really pushing her. You'd think at every event it would Greta, Margot, and Ryan but it seems like everywhere it's Greta, Margot, and America. Nomination voting ends on Tuesday so she definitely needed to make an impression. She got shut out at both Globes and SAG. Honestly, please don't do this Oscars. There are other performances more deserving than this three minute rant.
by Anonymous | reply 343 | January 15, 2024 2:24 AM |
Downey Jr and Gosling are both so fucking smug. Don't know what anybody sees in them.
by Anonymous | reply 344 | January 15, 2024 2:26 AM |
R313, It was a pleasant performance. It didn't make us question anything, let alone our personal values and attitudes towards the movie's subject.
"The Holdovers" is an unqualified "feel-good" movie, but nothing we haven't seen before---except for the final 15 minutes. And we don't even see a mental struggle within Giamatti's character.
Cillian portrays Oppenheimer as complex, self-centered, brilliant, bedeviled, obstinate, awkward, situationally loyal, demanding, humiliated, weak, and ultimately rueful. He must interact with many others, from his women to fellow scientists to politicians to boisterous crowds. He must react to a lover's suicide (possible murder). He must face himself. No cathartic "good" ending. Tough on Oppenheimer; tough on us.
Paul's teacher is a brilliant Sad Sack kind of guy. Hum-drum life of Classics in the original, teaching bored and reluctant rich boys. No social life. He, Paul, must convey annoyance, the tiny tyranny of the put-upon teacher, the impulse to crack wise about the students' work, and the delight in a break from the school setting and "rebellion" against the rules. And we feel good at the end. Not happy, but good.
Both actors are excellent. I just think that Cillian had to, and did, dig deeper into the mind and soul of the man who changed modern history than Paul did as a mentor of one promising student.
by Anonymous | reply 345 | January 15, 2024 2:27 AM |
R339, if Ferrara couldn't get a nomination at SAG, which doesn't have ranked-choice voting and favors very populist contenders, no Critics Choice speech is going to save her.
I'm very pleased that the Best Actor race has come down to Cillian Murphy and Paul Giamatti. That category has made some pretty bad picks over the past few years, but it looks like the race is between two talented, hard-working actors giving excellent performances without the cheap trickery that so often wins Oscars. Both Murphy and Giamatti would be excellent winners.
by Anonymous | reply 346 | January 15, 2024 2:28 AM |
I actually like RDJ. He seems funny and in on the joke about himself. Gosling is a snob and smug. He’s definitely feeling himself a little too much lately.
The critic who was there sitting by the Oppenheimer table kept snapping vids and pics all night. He shared a pic of Chris Nolan getting out of his seat and walking over to Murphy to chat with him after he lost Best Actor. I wonder what he said.
by Anonymous | reply 347 | January 15, 2024 2:28 AM |
R345 thinks only “complex” and “challenging” characters should be nominated.
No.
by Anonymous | reply 348 | January 15, 2024 2:29 AM |
Supporting seems to be:
Danielle Brooks
DaVine Joy Randolph
Emily Blunt
With the last two slots going to:
Jodie Foster
America Ferrera
Julianne Moore
Rosamund Pike
Penelope Cruz
Rachel McAdams
Taraji P Hensen
Sandra Huller (zone of interest)
So I think it could either way for nominations

Harrison Ford should get a Lifetime Achievement Award.from GLAAD for turning so many men of my generation gay.
by Anonymous | reply 350 | January 15, 2024 2:30 AM |
R324, Mostly thanks to Dominic Sessa.
by Anonymous | reply 351 | January 15, 2024 2:30 AM |
I don’t think Danielle Brooks is a lock at all. I can see The Color Purple being shut out.
by Anonymous | reply 352 | January 15, 2024 2:31 AM |
RDJ's "smugness" has always seemed a conscious schtick laid out over very deep waters. He's not actually smug - he just plays up that part of his persona.
Ryan just seems smug.
by Anonymous | reply 353 | January 15, 2024 2:31 AM |
R351 no. I loved all of them. They had amazing chemistry and worked well off each other. Sessa was great but Giamatti was amazing and Randolph was wonderful.
by Anonymous | reply 354 | January 15, 2024 2:32 AM |
R347: Gosling hasn't had a hit in ages and probably thinks the movie's success was due mostly to him, and that all his future projects will be hits as well. He's so far up his own ass.
by Anonymous | reply 355 | January 15, 2024 2:35 AM |
Am I the only one who doesn't find Gosling appealing? He's like a white bread frat boy, with thin lips and beady eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 356 | January 15, 2024 2:35 AM |
Who won Best Featured: America or DaVine?
by Anonymous | reply 357 | January 15, 2024 2:37 AM |
Ryan seems like fun. Remember when they were all up on the Oscar stage when La-La Land "won." He wasn't even trying to control his amusement at what was going on. RDJ seems like he'd get really tiresome to be around.
by Anonymous | reply 358 | January 15, 2024 2:41 AM |
R357, Da'Vine won Best Supporting Actress. America was given the bullshit SeeHer award that the Critics Choice usually bestows to also-rans in the Oscar race, like Janelle Monae last year.
by Anonymous | reply 359 | January 15, 2024 2:46 AM |
Viola won this see her bullshit too I think. Yeah we see you and you're still not a sexualized woman.
by Anonymous | reply 360 | January 15, 2024 2:47 AM |
Emily Blunt should not be nominated. Talk about riding the coattails of others.
I am glad Paul and Emma won just to mix it up. Maybe people are sick of the Lily guilt. Agree that SAG will be a big indicator of who may win.
by Anonymous | reply 361 | January 15, 2024 2:47 AM |
The Stone win was huge. A totally radical, outrageous role few actresses would dare to play. Gladstone is still in the race, but I really want Emma to win. Even Gladstone knows Stone should win another Oscar with that performance, judging from her reaction to her win, not to mention the other nominees. Giamatti was another big win. He was robbed of a nomination for Sideways and really deserves an Oscar. Best character actor in the business.

Is there a See Him Award?
by Anonymous | reply 363 | January 15, 2024 2:48 AM |
Gosling used to come off fun but ever since he’s come back from his 3/4 year break he’s been so far up his own ass. It’s insane. Like when Simu Liu put his hand on Gosling’s back and Gosling got mad because of how it looked etc. tonight he wouldn’t even stop for pics or do interviews. He’s become full of himself.
by Anonymous | reply 364 | January 15, 2024 2:49 AM |
R363 no it’s only for women
by Anonymous | reply 365 | January 15, 2024 2:49 AM |
The Emmy Awards are tomorrow night.
by Anonymous | reply 366 | January 15, 2024 2:51 AM |
Either Giamatti or Murphy winning would be fine with me. I’m glad the two frontrunners are actually great choices this year. Last year too although I preferred Colin to Butler and Fraser. Mescal was my pick though. His performance was beautifully heartbreaking.
Gladstone was the best thing about that movie but still not as good as Stone.
by Anonymous | reply 367 | January 15, 2024 2:52 AM |
I’m gonna skip the SAG’s.
by Anonymous | reply 368 | January 15, 2024 2:56 AM |
I feel so cool as the only winner not to attend. I'm so above it all. I should have sent Mamie like Brando did.
by Anonymous | reply 369 | January 15, 2024 2:58 AM |
I wonder if Meryl didn’t go because Martin Short wasn’t going because they snubbed him this year.
by Anonymous | reply 370 | January 15, 2024 3:00 AM |
R345 There were layers to Giamatti’s performance though. Like when he runs into his old classmate or learns the woman he pines for is involved with someone.
by Anonymous | reply 371 | January 15, 2024 3:01 AM |
Are M and Short really dating? Have there been photos of them entering the Golden Globes together? (or is this just based on the fact that they sat next to each other?)
by Anonymous | reply 372 | January 15, 2024 3:02 AM |
Gosling is up his ass because Barbie made a billion dollars.
Bottom line: that's what counts in H💰LLYW💰💰D
by Anonymous | reply 373 | January 15, 2024 3:02 AM |
Yeah but it didn’t make a billion because of him, which he seems to think.
by Anonymous | reply 374 | January 15, 2024 3:04 AM |
R362, just prepare yourself, because this year's Oscar race for Best Actress might repeat last year's. Everyone knows who gave the superior performance, but the actress who did already has an Oscar and her main competitor has a better feel-good narrative.
Thankfully nothing this year will compare to the shameless litany of sob stories that last year's acting winners employed to win Oscars.

by Anonymous | reply 376 | January 15, 2024 3:07 AM |
R348, Thanks for reading. I'm just saying that IMO CM did more with his character than PG, etc.
What would you posit as "Best Actor" requisites?
by Anonymous | reply 377 | January 15, 2024 3:08 AM |
Oh. Lily’s speeches have been just as bad as Michelle Yeoh’s.
by Anonymous | reply 378 | January 15, 2024 3:11 AM |
I'm rooting for Emma Stone because she's fascinating.
by Anonymous | reply 379 | January 15, 2024 3:16 AM |
Where are all of you getting that Ryan is smug? Did he say something off in an interview? I like his role choices, they're a good mix.
I'd take a hundred of him over those two desperados, Cooper and DiCaprio. Cooper is so trite in his desperation. ASIB and Bernstein? He's the basic bitch of Hollywood. And DiCaprio is greedy. His peers finally gave him his pity Oscar for Revenant - a film no one will ever watch again - and he immediately comes back with another boring award-baity film. They are both boring and need to branch out.
by Anonymous | reply 380 | January 15, 2024 3:16 AM |
If Emma Stone wins the Oscar, will she be the first Oscar winner to have stuck an apple in her pussy on film?
by Anonymous | reply 381 | January 15, 2024 3:19 AM |
R378, Lily hasn't threatened to beat up anyone yet during an acceptance speech, so she's still better than Yeoh in that regard.
R381, you must be forgetting Marie Dressler in Min and Bill.
by Anonymous | reply 382 | January 15, 2024 3:27 AM |
On film? Yes.

Jonathan Bailey's speech was one for the ages. He has more star-quality than anyone else in the room. He's an Old Hollywood type star, like Cary Grant and Clark Gable.

Can we start a Frances Fisher - like campaign so Hollywood kiss-ass, fat phobic Emily Blunt continues her streak of zero Oscar nominations ?
• Ferrera, like her or not, is at least humble and likable. Her speech tonight was widely seen by Oscar voters. I think she makes slot 5. If voters decide to hedge a Huller snub in Best Actress, she could show up here in slot 5 for ‘Zone of Interest’. There are more international voters in the Oscar pool and they might want to recognize ‘Zone’ outside of Film and Director.
• Randolph is a lock.
• Foster is the Oscar comeback story of the year for finally having the guts to play a butch lesbian.
• Brooks appears hammy as hell in the The Color Purple trailer. I haven’t seen it, but apparently audiences were enthralled by her at a SAG screening.
• Passion pick of the year: Penélope Cruz for Ferrari. Everyone says she steals the movie and this is the one performance that screams Oscar win. She won’t, but I think she gets a nomination.
That leaves Blunt OUT. Remember, Oscar nominations are largely determined by #1 votes by Academy members. Who the hell would put Blunt at #1? Nolan can’t write female characters and Blunt is a one-note actress with a Botox-ed face. She might be #3 or #4 picks. She’s not a #1 pick. All of the above actresses have higher likelihood of being a #1 pick. Ferrera, undeservedly, but she’s now a sentimental favorite after her Critics Choice speech.

r37 He is mid to advanced stage twink death though, I'd recommend pumping out Spider-Man movies and marriage to Zendaya (or Harrison Osterfield) in the next few years before its too late.
by Anonymous | reply 390 | January 15, 2024 4:44 AM |
Sorry, R389, but Emily Blunt is in the front-runner for Best Picture, and she's been repeatedly snubbed for Oscars because she was never in the right movie to earn her Oscar attention. Despite her limited screen time she still has a good Oscar clip, and except for Randolph every single actress has a far weaker case for a nomination. No one is challenging Randolph, but even a distant second place is still assured a nomination, and that's where Blunt seems situated.
There are always nominees in the supporting categories who get in primarily because of the strength of their films (Octavia Spencer in The Shape of Water, Alan Arkin in Argo, Helena Bonham Carter in The King's Speech) that you wouldn't expect to earn a ton of #1 votes. Blunt has a better case than most of them.

I finally saw Killers of the Flower Moon, and while she was fine, I was decidedly NOT blown away by Lily Gladstone’s performance. Bening really deserves it this year, but I’m not even sure she will get an Oscar nod at this point.
I feel the same way about Randolph in The Holdovers. It was an adequate performance, but nothing made me go WOW. I also don’t get Blunt being a “lock”. Rosamund, Jodie, and Julianne deserve slots. Brooks was fine in TCP, but Taraji was the best, to me, and I don’t think she’s gotten any nominations.

Oscars and SAG: Annette Bening for win for 'Nyad.'
She's outstanding and long overdue.
by Anonymous | reply 395 | January 15, 2024 8:42 AM |
Emily Blunt will get a nomination. America F doesn’t deserve one. Unless they feel a Hispanic deserves one and then it’s purely political. Jody Foster would be a better choice. Randolph was excellent and is the clear Oscar winner. Haven’t see TCP or Penelope Cruz.
I think Ryan Gosling deserves one for Barbie but I’m sure he won’t get it.

R88:
There was a moment when Jennifer Aniston and Reese were being interviewed and Pedro walked past. Whomever was doing the interview immediately tried to get Pedro to join the conversation, but he was trying to be good sport and not interrupt their interview. Jennifer and Reese quickly brough up the idea of his guest starring on the 3rd season of the Morning Show. It was a cute moment with Pedro nicely saying, 'get in touch with my agent' as he walked away.

But now when she smiles, she looks scary and evil.

R403 download the CW app on your device or television. If you have an Apple TV or Roku the app is available to download. I’m sure on most smart TVs also. You can stream it there.
Just search “Critics Choice” and it will pop up.
