....and some Pastene sunflower oil.
I haven’t had a steak in years. I saw it at the supermarket and had to have it. It cost around 10 bucks. Mmmmboy it was delicious!
Do you guys ever do this? Do you eat steak at all?

Did you use a cast iron frying pan?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 12, 2024 8:14 PM |
No, I used T Fal. I don’t een have a cast iron pan any more.

I bought myself a ribeye steak at Paris Frozen Foods yesterday. It was $17

If I eat red meat it’s usually ground beef. This was a revelation. Haha
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 12, 2024 8:17 PM |
I was about to broil it then I thought - I’m not really god at broiling steak.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 12, 2024 8:18 PM |
*or good
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 12, 2024 8:19 PM |
Love it.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 12, 2024 8:20 PM |
R4 Have you had it yet?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 12, 2024 8:24 PM |
Husband and I are going out for martinis and prime rib (mine the rarest slab they have) tonight. I love red meat, but don't eat it that often.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 12, 2024 8:25 PM |
I've never used sunflower oil. What is it good for?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 12, 2024 8:27 PM |
Same here, R10, but when I do, it's delicious. Ditto for the martinis. Enjoy.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 12, 2024 8:27 PM |
R11 It’s a mild oil, it’s supposed to contain vitamin E, I think. I usually can’t digest olive oil so I use it to fry eggs and things like that, usually.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 12, 2024 8:29 PM |
It’s actually a very good oil for cooking.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 12, 2024 8:31 PM |
I can’t buy a cut of steak or some other high priced meat without thinking of Mary. Every time.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 12, 2024 8:36 PM |
R13, nice. I've seen it in stores. I'll give it a try.
Does it have a neutral flavor?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 12, 2024 8:40 PM |
I don't like steak. I had them constantly growing up, too much, and from college years onward I lost my taste for big steaks and big pieces of meat. I eat meat still, and like it, but in small quantities and with other things.
I like a small slice or two of a good roast beef, or carrillada (braised pork cheeks), or a bit of pork tenderloin grilled or fried and cooked in sauce, and a hamburger maybe every six months or so, but not big helpings. I like chicken and seafood, but otherwise I could do without meat and not miss it.
Steaks in particular are way too rich and often nauseous for me, and the butter --though I understand OPś point-- would be too much.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 12, 2024 8:42 PM |
R18 Yes.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 12, 2024 9:31 PM |
R18 I would probably use olive oil if I could. Read up on advantages and disadvantages of sunflower oil.
R19 I never cared for roast beef, for some reason.

I love steak but I never cook it at home, for it makes the entire house reek.
A good filet mignon with rosemary potatoes and a glass of excellent, French red wine.. heaven.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 12, 2024 9:40 PM |
My house doesn’t reek.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 12, 2024 9:51 PM |
You type poor OP. “It cost 10 bucks” for a steak. Good lord.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 12, 2024 9:52 PM |
R24 You type stupid.
I was just saying what it cost. I was not commenting on the cost, positively or negatively. But actually it was on sale. I will always try to pay as little as possible for something but 10 bucks (actually 9 dollars and some change - it was a smallish steak) was a good price and I was not implying it was a lot of money.
Actually, I’m not wealthy, but why do you care? I don’t plan to get to know you.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 12, 2024 9:59 PM |
R25 phew, I’m so relieved you don’t plan to get to know me! I’ll refrain from commenting further on your silly thread.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 12, 2024 10:08 PM |
I like my steaks grilled. I'm one of those prisspots who like it well done. Give me a baked potato and a salad and you'll make me a happy man.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 12, 2024 10:19 PM |
Well, that was the starter. What did you have for your other courses, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 12, 2024 10:20 PM |
R28 That’s all I had.
R27 I don’t disagree about well-done steaks. I can eat anything from medium well to well done. Don’t like anything with rare in the description.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 12, 2024 10:26 PM |
OP, can I have your stuff?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 12, 2024 11:18 PM |
I'm making pot roast tomorrow for a rainy January day.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 12, 2024 11:36 PM |
SEED OILS SUCK
People rarely keep up with nutritional science.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 13, 2024 8:47 AM |
Good for you, R23 — But I was talking about my little kitchen in my little apartment.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 13, 2024 9:59 AM |
R33 I have the same thing, but if you have a kitchen fan and you open a window it’s usually okay.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 13, 2024 12:09 PM |
[quote]I usually can’t digest olive oil
Why?
It’s a monounsaturated fat.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 13, 2024 12:11 PM |
I slapped my face and called myself a communist
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 13, 2024 12:21 PM |
Yes but never T bone, gotta be sirloin.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 13, 2024 3:55 PM |
I’m going to try this Pastene Oil
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 13, 2024 7:03 PM |
I bought a tray of bavette or flap steak from Costco. IMO, it's a very underrated cut of beef.
All I did was salt, pepper, oil in a pan. Delicious. You can freeze what you don't use or eat.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 13, 2024 8:52 PM |
Lately I marinate steaks overnight in teriyaki sauce and Italian dressing. My mother recommended this and I was skeptical, but they turn out pretty good.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 13, 2024 9:12 PM |
I haven’t heard of that, it sounds good.

I could live on meat. I like very few vegetables.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 14, 2024 8:27 AM |
It looks delicious OP.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 14, 2024 12:16 PM |
R44 It was delicious, though that’s not a picture of my version of it.
