Not trolling just stating a view based on having seen the show, Aaron and being concerned about Joe’s casting. They may have been talking about it in that thread. As it’s three weeks from Joe’s debut and he’s a new talent who has smartly taken on a smaller role I think as an assessment it lacks any foundation and is unfair to Joe. However guy clearly already doesn’t like the show so I don’t think he’ll bother to see it with Sutton, Aaron and Joe to make an actual assessment.

R63 Definitely not the exact same storyline, so it would have to be an alternate reality version of Nick that cared so much about his social standing that he'd repress himself and then later decide it was ridiculous that he cared so much. This alternate reality version of Charlie would come out of his shell more in uni, too.

Kit is on the record as saying that Paul's performance in Normal People inspired him when they filmed S1, but naturally within limits since the tones are different. I'm sure he mostly meant nuanced acting that's more about the little details and things never outright said, and I think he really took that home in S2 especially.

Honestly I think Paul did such a phenomenal job of channeling every emotion onto his face and being so vulnerable in moments on the show (Daisy too, but I’m not surprised men resonate more with Connell) that I’ve had a lot of male friends say the role and show really struck a chord with them, across a variety of backgrounds and reasons.

R424 I agree with their decision that Solitaire doesn't really fit the tone of Heartstopper, and Charlie will have enough on his plate in S3 without having to deal with Ben shit. Though that relationship might be mentioned in a therapy scene as something that still impacts him. The Ben/Imogen storyline felt like a way to do a Solitaire-esque story of Ben having a relationship with a girl without getting as dark as Solitaire.
