Have you ever known of anyone who was sex trafficked or kidnapped?

There are a number of girls on TikTok who parody this whole thing. Here’s one:

A friend of brother’s and the friend’s college roommate were abducted. They jumped out of a speeding pick-up truck. The roommate was killed. Made the headline of the New York Post even though it happened in the South. “Scarsdale Boy in Kidnap Terror’ if I recall correctly, which is unlikely.

We had an exchange student who disappeared. Might have run off. Guess we’ll never know.

I do. A woman in my motorcycle group who was born and raised in Mexico was kidnapped for ransom there when she was six. Her family had money and paid the ransom, but then the kidnappers upped the amount again. They refused to pay more, because they saw there was never going to be an end to it. So the kidnappers smashed the little girl's little and ring fingers on her right hand. The police finally managed to find her, and the doctors saved her fingers, but could not fix them. To this day, they flop around of their own accord.

She had three older brothers, one of whom had managed to get to Chicago, and he took her in. He didn't want her to feel like a "cripple," so he taught her to use that hand to ride a motorcycle, and she's been riding ever since.

Sex trafficking is such a huge term, probably by design. It includes anyone who has been coerced or manipulated into sex -- the bar is a lot lower than just grabbing kids for evil purposes. It may be that there wasn't a way to get people excited about going after prostitutes and pimps without making things sound even scarier, which I'm sure they are.

Agree OP. There are people who watch procedurals all day and Fox all night and believe that someone is hiding under their sink to attack them.

He was finally released by the group who were trafficking him I haven’t seen him in 20 years but I don’t think things ended well for him.

I know people who work closely with people (of all ages) who've been trafficked. It's almost never what QAnon quacks envision. The sad reality is that a lot of trafficking involves kids and teens with drug-addicted parents.

Most people arrested for trafficking are pimps or madams, not people kidnapping kids or women off the street. Not that being a pimp or madam is good, but rarely do people arrested for trafficking kidnap people "Taken" style. They usually target runaways or people who are already vulnerable. They're not kidnapping middle class housewives or rich white kids. This is why I was suspicious of Sherri Papini from the start

Girls like that are often vulnerable to predatory boyfriends due to abusive situations at home and/or developmental delays. There are also women brought here (to the US) from other countries, who speak little if any English and are sent to shady massage parlors or shithole strip clubs. Then they're whored out to some of the same (cheap) weirdos that go home and tweet about PizzaGate afterward without any self-awareness.

The term "trafficking" is a problem - it used to refer to abduction, but US federal law was changed around the 2000s, and now the definition is pretty vague and it basically means "exploitation". Federal funding to "anti-trafficking" services grew in the 2000s, so you had a new workforce to address an "issue" that everyone agrees is "bad" but nobody really knows how to define or measure. "Trafficking" could refer to forced marriage, paying someone below the minimum wage at work, pimping an adult, sexually abusing a child, etc. I have definitely known people who have been "trafficked" but I wouldn't call it that because it's a useless term IMO.

Yeah a parental kidnapping of a neighbor kid. I actually went to high school with someone that got arrested for trafficking. It wasn’t some elaborate trick with some frau and her kids at Walmart. It was his young neighbor. He partied with her. Provided her with drugs and then started pimping her out. He got convicted and is serving life. His co-defendant took a plea and got ten years for testifying against him. I think his girlfriend/child’s mother got in trouble for threatening the victim.

My 8 yr old cousin was kidnapped in 1975. They got her back a few days later. My Uncle ( her dad) worked for the C.I.A. ( I'm not making it up). The guy who took her also worked for the C.I.A at one time, and knew them. Later on when we got older she told me he never touched her, but rambled on about God, and the Government, for the 2 days he had her. She said she was the most scared when SWAT came, because he said everybody had to "pay" including her. He did let her go, though, and then shot himself.
