this is for the idiot a few days ago who said they wouldn't take Pepto because it's like "eating rocks"

Here's why it works for many digestive issues, you idiot poster:
How does bismuth calm your stomach? By preventing bacteria from binding to mucosal cells, bismuth subsalicylate prevents intestinal secretion and fluid loss, promotes fluid and electrolyte reabsorption, reduces gastrointestinal inflammation, and promotes the healing of pre-existing ulcer in the stomach.

Sounds pretty damn powerful and organic (obviously!) too.

Oh! And...
Bismuth therapy has shown efficacy against two major gastrointestinal disorders: peptic ulcer disease and diarrhea. In peptic ulcer disease it is as effective as the H2-receptor antagonists, costs considerably less, and offers a lower rate of relapse.

One more...
Is bismuth good for IBS? In general, according to our study, IBS-D symptoms (abdominal pain, bloating, quality of ife, impact of daily life, number of days having pain, and satisfaction on bowel habit) improved significantly with bismuth therapy (bismuth subcitrate 120 mg tablet twice daily, 30 min before breakfast and dinner).

OP, no one gives a crap, and I think I just heard Aunt Hilda call from the kitchen…something about a hot batch of chocolate chip cookies!

by Anonymousreply 2January 10, 2024 1:49 AM

I hope you regret now calling someone else an "idiot poster."

by Anonymousreply 3January 10, 2024 1:55 AM

R3 Score for the win!

by Anonymousreply 4January 10, 2024 1:58 AM

OP that was humiliating. I can't get over this sense of embarrassment for your post and formatting.

Truly unbelievable.

by Anonymousreply 5January 10, 2024 1:58 AM

to be clear, i said "idiot." Not "idiot poster."

by Anonymousreply 6January 10, 2024 1:59 AM

r6 if you are OP, you certainly DID say "idiot poster"

"Here's why it works for many digestive issues, you idiot poster:"

by Anonymousreply 7January 10, 2024 2:02 AM
to be clear, i said "idiot." Not "idiot poster."

Oh, [italic]hun.[/italic] You're just digging yourself in deeper and deeper.

You posted:
Here's why it works for many digestive issues, you idiot poster:

It's time you step away from the keyboard and sleep off all that alcohol.

by Anonymousreply 8January 10, 2024 2:03 AM

I wanna know just one thing OP, why didn't you post this in the thread where said "idiot" made the statement? Wouldn't that make more sense?

by Anonymousreply 9January 10, 2024 2:09 AM

I pretty much hate all liquid medicines, but I really like the flavor of Pepto-Bismol.

by Anonymousreply 10January 10, 2024 2:17 AM

SORRY, i did say idiot poster. My fucking mistake.

You all are still not getting the picture here. Bismuth (pepto bismol), a natural mineral, works for many gut stuff. And I linked WHY it works. That's all. I was just trying to show the poster that YES, a rock or natural remedy (which are often used in mainstream meds prescribed) are actually effective for some human maladies.

That was my main point. Sheesh. Way to miss the point.

by Anonymousreply 11January 10, 2024 2:18 AM

Cousin Sue said The Farmers Almanac predicts a good turnip growing season!

Praise! Paw, the farm is saved!

by Anonymousreply 12January 10, 2024 2:22 AM

No need to call anyone an "idiot." It's not that serious. This is not a medical website where we are bound to posting 100% medically-researched and accurate information.

by Anonymousreply 13January 10, 2024 2:25 AM

Paw says a daily dose of turnips is what cures ya’!

by Anonymousreply 14January 10, 2024 2:26 AM

You all realize that Willow tree leaves contains salicylic acid = ASPIRIN (and other popular acne facial remedies (which was found and then subsequently used because it was so effective for so many inflammatory maladies/diseases in native peoples). Digitalis is Foxglove, a flower, which is now popularly used for heart medication. And so on, and so on.

You younger people wouldn't survive because you don't realize this basic shit.

by Anonymousreply 15January 10, 2024 2:27 AM

r12 / r14 (obvs the same poster) doesn't understand most mainstream medications are derivative of plants that occur in the natural world.

That's okay. Your kind doesn't need to survive.

Did you know orange isn’t a color in the rainbow?

by Anonymousreply 17January 10, 2024 2:29 AM

I love pepto bismol EXCEPT it's like it goes too far and I end up being constipated.

by Anonymousreply 18January 10, 2024 2:29 AM

i agree r18. it does take you from one extreme to the other.

by Anonymousreply 19January 10, 2024 2:31 AM

Go to BED, OP, you’re DRUNK

by Anonymousreply 20January 10, 2024 2:31 AM

Girls, your topic is neither interesting nor relevant to 99% of DL.

Take it offline and fight it out.

by Anonymousreply 21January 10, 2024 2:34 AM

well it must be interesting and/or relevant. it's already received 21 replies. And in my 15 years here, many threads often don't see more than 3 responses.

Wrong! But have a shot on me!

by Anonymousreply 22January 10, 2024 2:36 AM

R22. Half of the posts have been from me, making fun of you ridiculous queens and your cat fight.

by Anonymousreply 23January 10, 2024 2:40 AM

That's okay. it's still reaching people. All i care about is making people aware that meds don't need to be big ol' expensive rx that you need to have a doc prescribe you. They're already out there.

The more i learn about our natural world, the more i've realized over many years that these 'FDA APPROVED' meds already occur in nature. In things that grow in nature, then we see it and decide we can make money from it by reproducing in labs and making it a "drug" the FDA has to approve. Much of it is out there already. Not everything, not at all. i'm not saying that. But a lot of it.

That's all. That's all i wanted to spread knowledge about. i just thought it was ridic that some person said "i'm not going to 'eat rocks' to make my stomach feel better." It was a dumb statement.

by Anonymousreply 24January 10, 2024 2:45 AM

I’m glad the TRUTH about pepto is finally coming out.

by Anonymousreply 25January 10, 2024 2:53 AM

r21 Glad you kept the thread alive by bumping it again !

by Anonymousreply 26January 10, 2024 3:05 AM

lol r25.

I saw the acne outbreak thread where they said their chyrsanthemum tea really helped both OP and sister. I wish i would have known about that...for several years from 2019 - 2022 i had insane severe acne outbreaks that pre-dated wearing masks for over a year, and as a 50 year old. i'd never had that skin outbreaks like that before...pustules, red volcanoes, shit all over my face (under my eyes, bridge of my nose swelling it into Rudolph proportions, on my nose, on my chin) that just kept breaking out. Over and over again. I had to take many rounds of doxycycline...months and months, with stomach issues that came along with that. i was honestly glad we were wearing masks (during Covid). i looked like Quasimodo.

Even after Covid ended and my mask usage decreased - the outbreaks decreased to almost nothing, but it happened again.

Over the past 6 months, i've tried two straight herbal extracts and have had very few outbreaks since then. Nothing at all like what i've experienced over the past 5 years. It pre-dated Covid, i want to be clear.

i won't say what i used because i just want to put out there that herbal remedies are often made into prescribed medications. And i found the natural antibiotic that helped me any my outbreaks on my face.

But i still use pepto as i'm not going to grind up my own bismuth for my stomach issues when they occur. And also (again) to call out the idiot who said he wouldn't eat a mineral to help his stomach issues.

The reason I’ve bumped it is simply for entertainment value, but I’ve lost interest.

Happy travels to you all.

IMODIUM® or the generic Loperamide works better and it doesn't stop things up for days or turn poop black.

by Anonymousreply 30January 10, 2024 4:33 PM

Imodium has never stopped my stomach cramps though r30. It doesn't do the "coating" thing.

by Anonymousreply 31January 10, 2024 4:35 PM

Another thing I read, Pepto should be used in places where the food may be a bit dodgy, BEFORE you actually need it for diarrhea, like up above, it binds to bacteria and coats them.
