I was told by locals not to walk around the garden district in New Orleans after dark and that’s a pretty nice neighborhood.

It’s always suspicious when a married couple is ambushed, but only one is killed and the other is spared, with a minor injury at most. If no description of the assailants is released, but the surviving spouse was a witness, it’s likely that law enforcement is being cautious because they doubt the witness’s account and don’t want to jeopardize the investigation by releasing fabricated descriptions. Otherwise, they would release that info because the suspects are still at large and a danger to the public.

Another strange detail: the car used to ambush the couple was stolen and later ditched in a bayou. There was a LOT of effort put into ambushing this couple for being gay, or for whatever money was or was not in their pockets.
