It’s not about the money. It’s about the bond you have with the animals. Athina probably feels like her horses are the only creatures who like her for who she IS. They trust her.

The story goes that Ted Kennedy jumped in the Onassis family limo at her brother's funeral and demanded to negotiate Jackie's divorce settlement with Aristotle then and there. Hence the understandable bad blood. There were probably other reasons.

Christina and Alexander Onassis wanted their father to remarry their mother. They hated Maria Callas too.

Christina was desperate for attention and love, and Jackie probably could have won her over, but instead Jackie criticized Christina’s weight, clothing and table manners until Christina told her off.

Horses and equestrianship probably helped keep Athina focused and away from a dissolute lifestyle that eventually killed her mother. It's hard to understand why people marry so young, especially those with money. She or her lawyers should have thought to tie alimony in the prenuptial to his ability to keep the anaconda in his jodhpurs. Then again, the lawyers may have and she refused because *true love*. She didn't learn from her mother's sorry relationship with Thierry Roussel.

R5 Christina got along well with Jackie early on in the marriage, until her father's business suffered several mishaps to his ships, after a long period with an excellent safety record. The Onassis family felt Jackie was cursed and it was now affecting their family. This became a stronger belief after the tragic plane accident that led to his son Alexander's death in 1973.

Considering what a hot mess her mother was, she seems to be doing okay all things considered. Yes, she had to pay out to get rid of the husband, but it's not like you see pictures of her drunk off her ass in a club like her mother. She must not be getting great advice if she married the guy in the first place, but then maybe she wanted to get away from her father & his sidepiece & start her own family.
