“Euphoria”- the scene where Fez beats the shit out of Nate is still the most shocking scene on TV in the last few years
Remember how everyone was talking about it? Man, I wish that I could relive watching Euphoria season two for the first time again. Euphoria Sunday was a real thing and it brought America together. Everyone was watching it and everyone on social media was talking about it. Every week euphoria was viral.
I provided the scene, which was the last scene of episode one in season two. I combined it with the first scene of episode two. They go together hand-in-hand.
What was your favorite scene?

My grandparents still wax nostalgic over Euphoria Sundays.
They still talk about how grand baby Skeeter clapped for the first time while Fez was nearly beating Nate to death.
The closest we’ll ever get back to Must See TV.

I couldn't with this show - it's like a pretentious Riverdale. The casting is ridiculous.

OP the premiere to season 2 is the best episode of season 2. The first 2/3 episodes are good and then episode 5 was good but most of the season was not as good as the first, in my opinion. Everyone has their own opinion.
R5 who cares? Then don’t comment. This is clearly for people who have or want to. Not people coming on to claim they won’t watch.

R6 now that comment is just ridiculous. This is nothing like Riverdale and is a mature series. The casting was perfect. Everyone fits their character perfectly.

The actor who played Fez is dead. Is Euphoria coming back for a third season?

R9 yes. They could easily say he died from that gunshot he took in the finale. Season 3 has been postponed so many times that it’s now expected to come in 2025. If that happens. A lot of the cast are booked and busy.
There are people who think Euphoria is secretly canceled at this point but HBO won’t let it be known yet and are waiting. I think if they can’t get an official film date and the cast back they are cancelling at this point. Zendaya and Jacob Elordi don’t even wanna do season 3 but are contracted. That’s probably why they’re paying her $1 million an episode for season 3. Rumor was she didn’t wanna do it. Jacob has made it clear he can care less about it and he almost walked from season 2. All accommodations were made for him to come back.
Season 3 will also be the final season.

R12 that’s a lame criticism. That can be said about almost every series or film set in high school.

Euphoria's high school experience is much more on par with my experience than anything else I've seen portrayed on screen. Drug use is everywhere, but it doesn't mean you're a burnout. Just part of the experience of being young and learning your way around life.

R17 no. He got the Jules storyline killed for season 2. His team told Sam Levinson if he doesn’t get rid of that storyline he would walk so Levinson scrapped it, leading to the birth of Nate and Cassie.

R18 I’ve said the same thing. Euphoria actually was more like my real HS than most tv shows or movies set in HS. Some crazy shit happened to. Teen pregnancies, drugs, alcohol, parties, rape, a teacher was accused of fucking some of the students. Crazy times. It was pre-social media too so all the craziness was able to be kept under wraps more back then.

R14 To be fair I had a nerdy homebody highschool experience so Euphoria might just be so unrelatable to me that it goes right through me. But comparatively, I think Degrassi had much more believable casting.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 2, 2024 1:12 AM

Degrassi was a Canadian teen series that cast age appropriate youths because they started in middle school and then you grew up with the cast as they aged every year. You cannot really cast a 25 year old to play a 12 year old.

I know that filming is scheduled but for some reason I don't think this show is ever coming back.
And if it does, it will probably suck. I am just not sure Sam Levinson has true greatness in him. He seems like the type of person who will self destruct before he gets there.

Season three is supposed to take place five years after season two. I think that the time jump is essential because the cast is now older than they were because there is so much time between each season. Season one was already filmed almost 5 years ago.

This scene always gives me butterflies because it reminds me of when I was a teenager and sneaking around with a boy I shouldn’t have been. I relate to Cassie so much in this scene. The way she looks at Nate and the inability to say no to him… IYKYK.

Absolutely everyone!
Yo-Yo Ma, Ashley Tisdale, the Obamas, Meryl Streep, Noam Chomsky, 50 Cent, and Julie Andrews would all get on a big conference chat after every single episode to discuss it.

You sound like a delusional idiot, R25.
You are not Sydney Sweeney and whoever you were "sneaking around with" in high school (if that even happened) is not Jacob Elordi.

R28 I don’t recall claiming I was Sydney. I said I relate to the way Cassie feels in that scene. Just by looking at her I knew what she was feeling because I’ve felt it. IYKYK. Clearly you don’t.

Cassie was too much for me in season 2. At first it was cute and endearing although fucked up how she was doing it behind Maddy’s back, but she became fully obsessed with Nate, submitting herself 100% to him and being his personal doll. She went from hot sweet chick with daddy issues to full blown psycho while with Nate.

Euphoria is also historically significant as the launching pad for Sidney Sweeney's meteoric rise into the upper stratosphere of super stardom.

Euphoria launched all their careers. Zendaya was the only one who had some name recognition as far as the young cast. It was a vehicle for her to break away from Disney into mature roles.

I’m guessing with S3 - if there ever is one - they’re going to have to fast forward the timeline. A lot. None of them can pass for high school.

Watching Cassie is like watching myself in my early 20’s. Bad relationships on the downlow with assholes. Sneaking around to be with guys who didn’t really want me. Losing friends because I would hook up with their crush or ex and people hating me. Crying alll the time.

Not R42, but probably because some of the actresses didn’t want to work with Elordi, so scenes had to be rewritten.

Yes. Nate deserved it. Nate was a monster in season 1.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 2, 2024 8:05 PM

Fez was arguable a bigger monster. He was hanging out with at teenager's parties to sell them hard and soft drugs. Rue even said he's the person that gleefully supplied her with drugs before she went to rehab. Nate was bad, but Fez fucked up countless lives given the shit he was selling in that community.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 3, 2024 1:49 AM

Fez was a drug dealer. He had no ties to those people. Nate was awful to the people he knew and even the people he was closest to. Fez ends up refusing to sell to Rue anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 3, 2024 2:50 AM

r51 Fez is from that neighborhood which is why he was so relaxed at multiple parties. He is known to those people because everyone knows about his convenience store, which is a front for drug deals. If Nate could stop by his store multiple times then everyone else knows and frequent's Fez's business.
He stopped selling to Rue because he personally liked her. But he sold her the drugs that landed her in rehab and continues to sell the same shit to other teenagers or people in the community. Fez may mean well, but his actions are far more damaging then anything Nate has been seen doing on that show. Fez can get people killed. Nate is just a crazy asshole. Both deserve to rot in jail.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 5, 2024 1:19 PM

R52 sweetie, you think because he’s from the area he has ties to them? Rue was the only one he had ties to besides his own family, until he develops a bond with Lexi in season 2. He doesn’t go to their school and doesn’t seek them out to sell, they come to him.

Also, Nate is not just an asshole, he’s evil. He literally stalked and almost beat Tyler to death because Maddy claimed she blacked out when they fucked in the pool (she lied). Later he chokes Maddy for calling his mom a cunt. He builds a relationship with Jules through Grindr using catfish pics and gets her to send him nudes, and then after he realizes his father and Jules fucked he uses those photos against her as blackmail. After it’s found out he choked Maddy he denies it and eventually comes up with a plan to save his own ass by once again blackmailing someone. He threatens to go to the police and tell them Tyler raped Maddy if he doesn’t take the fall for Maddy being choked. So it’s either Tyler turns himself in for choking Maddy (he didn’t do it) OR Nate turns him in to the Police for raping a minor. He gets Jules to be a witness by threatening to hand her nudes over the police if she doesn’t claim to have seen Tyler choke Maddy. And more…
Nate is an evil monster. He does plenty of awful things without drugs involved.

The first draft scripts for season 3 had Nate and Cassie as the main characters and made Rue this wraith like character, just popping in and out randomly as a Detective. HBO said fuck no.

Season 3 should be cancelled. The story isn’t over but it’s done. Everyone is older now so they have to jump ahead. The fact that they have to jump ahead means all of the storylines from the first 2 seasons resolved offscreen.
So what the hell is the point of Season 3? The fact that it would be a reboot instead of an actual continuation of a story just shows it’s a dumb idea.
