How come Natalie Portman never completed mandatory Israeli military service?

She was born there and still holds citizenship.

by Anonymousreply 17January 1, 2024 1:59 PM

Totally innocent question!!!

by Anonymousreply 1December 31, 2023 9:53 PM

Sure, Jan.

R2 are you gna answer or nah? As someone staunchly pro Israel it does make you wonder.

by Anonymousreply 3December 31, 2023 10:25 PM

What is the answer?

Beautiful straight women are exempt from having to do anything difficult in life. Their beauty gives them a pass. Straight men have decreed it. As a gay bottom there is nothing you can do about it. Beautiful straight women have ALL THE VALUE and you have NONE.

There's some categories of exemptions, including expatriate status. Portman would not only be an expatriate, but has citizenship elsewhere. I don't know if this is why she never had to serve, but it's a possibility.

by Anonymousreply 7January 1, 2024 1:23 AM

R7: Gal Gadot served in the IDF.

This reminds me of Rachel Papo's 2008 book SERIAL NO. 3817131, a book of photographs depicting the day-to-day lives of women in the IDF.

Maybe because she started acting at 13?

by Anonymousreply 11January 1, 2024 3:21 AM

She completed her military service on Naboo!

by Anonymousreply 12January 1, 2024 3:37 AM

R6 is correct - she has expatriate status as although she was born there she has never lived in Israel for any length of time as an adult. She has lived in the USA since she was 5 years old or maybe earlier No armed forces anywhere in the world can make somebody do military service if they are residents/ citizens of another country, and given how long she's been in the US its almost certain she would be a US citizen

He actual surname is Hershlag. I can see why she changed it. From Wikipaedia;

[quote[Natalie Hershlag was born on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, to Jewish parents with roots in Poland, Austria, and Russia. Portman and her family first lived in Washington, D.C., but relocated to Connecticut in 1988 and then moved to Long Island in 1990.

She's too valuable to risk. Send Amy Schumer

I do believe we have a Natalie Portman troll on DL.

by Anonymousreply 15January 1, 2024 1:41 PM

The best Jews are set aside, like myself and Natalie, so that we can heal others.

She did her service as a cheerleader for the Jehovah Rollers hockey team.
