R5 If they actually finished, I‘m assuming they‘ll go pretty MIA between now and the holidays. It’s a bit hard to tell if the entire production wrapped or if it’s just most of the cast except Joe (and maybe Kit). Despite Newbery‘s story about his last Sunday night trip and them wrapping at the school they could still have some London studio filming days left. Just not sure because all the MUAs seem to be done. Netflix will definitely post something between today and next week but other than that I‘m expecting silence from the guys until Joe is in NY.

All of these are tame and nowhere near raunchy, so with the exception of the ice cream scene that was probably changed to show Charlie hesitant to eat his own ice cream, it does make me wonder if it's a ratings thing. At least for the first two seasons. I can't imagine they'll be able to dance around it as much in S3.

There are also other metrics Netflix takes into account in their decisions. Critical reception is one of them. Heartstopper racked up awards and critical acclaim, S&B did not.

R230 I know what you mean and agree with R233 but Kit probably did have equivalent time off. The uni tour and now Menorca are just being filmed and hinted at more out in the open. Days that Kit had off, like Charlie’s stay at the hospital and therapy sessions were happening in the school/studio, so it’s not really possible for us to track the same. There were several weeks where we didn’t know for sure who was on set or what was being filmed because it happened inside. I think screen time at least will be more in favor of Charlie in season 3 but again, R233 is probably not wrong.

The reason I'm doubting that they'll have possibly 4-5 days of shooting Sarah Nelson scenes (Thursday/Friday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) is that unless they add several new scenes for her, some of her scenes in the comics and This Winter include Charlie as well as Nick. In the past, they've managed to do Olivia's scenes in a couple of days. Filming in Spain would absolutely add to that number, of course, which could be happening today/tomorrow. But I can't see them needing three full days of shooting Sarah scenes at the Nelson house. Again, even if this included the Christmas party at the Nelson house, those scenes would involve Joe/Charlie. They've either shot those already, or Joe didn't actually wrap yesterday. (This is all assuming the 20th is an accurate wrap date.)

I did an absolutely insane thing the other day when you were all fighting and summarised every scene the guys have with each other or other characters (excluding big group where they’re just part of the action). It was more evenly split than I expected but, unsurprisingly, most of the conversations were about Nick and coming out.

People have already mentioned his monologue while Nick falls asleep in his arms, but there are also scenes with Tori like "Maybe I do ruin people's lives" in S1 and the "I can protect him" monologue at the start of S2. None of these scenes are confessional coming out scenes with an Oscar-winning actress, but Joe always does an amazing job.

People praise other scenes like Charlie breaking down crying to his dad in the car, or his completely wordless but emotive reactions during Ben's outburst at the Paris dinner. I remember Joe phrasing Charlie's story as asking the question "What now?" when a character is already out. His arc is never going to hit the exact same beats as Nick's coming out arc for that reason.

I know people have posited that Geoff's casting is being kept quiet because it's a big name and they want it to be a big surprise like Olivia was. But even if it's not a big name, there should be potential there, and I expect the same for Charlie's S3 scenes with his family. Critics and awards do love performances surrounding "Issues" for lack of better term; so coming out for Nick, and mental health for Charlie. The same buzz could very well come about for S3, but I think S1 was always going to be lighting in a bottle in terms of mass reactions. It was new and fresh, and again, Olivia was a huge surprise.

On a meta level outside of just Heartstopper, Agatha potentially airing around the same time or the same year might give Joe a bigger media push. Press loves it when an actor is juggling two main roles, let alone two main roles with passionate fanbases. I'm really looking forward to next year for him.

The scene with Tao about the outing, the scene with Nick about his mental illness, the 20 second scene where he rejoins the rugby team, the 10 second scene where where Mr Lange asks where the fuck his paper is, the scene with Imogen and Nick after Imogen tries to out Ben (sorry, that’s what it is). Nick very weirdly has at least two scenes with Tao that are not about Charlie or coming out (on the bus, in the hotel room) and two scenes with others that are sort of about Charlie but bit given as advice to them (Elle, for some reason, and Tara - which makes more sense). But almost all the scenes are about Nick coming out or each other. Joe and Kit do all the heavy lifting here as clearly the show is as deep as a puddle. I will never get over the fact that Kizzy had to improv the dialogue of the fight with the mother as Alice didn’t script anything because she was going to scribble all over it. Unbelievable how good it was. In conclusion, Alice is a lazy fuck
