I listened to the actual podcast. Shannen isn't sitting around stewing over this more than 20 years later. The whole thing is her audio memoir, likely being recorded for posterity before she dies. She plans to talk about everything, the drama on Charmed, the drama on 90210, her divorces, her cancer, etc. This is just the first subject she got to. From hearing them both talk and from other things I've read, I gather the Charmed set was a total shit show from the top down and there was no one really in charge on the set. If anyone on here actually worked on the show, I'd love to hear what it was really like.

But Holly also complains that all the scripts got a final polish by Brad Kern, which is why they all ended up sounding the same regardless of who wrote them. I think she’s dead wrong with this criticism. As a viewer, the scripts *should* sound the same. Otherwise you end up with an inconsistent mess on the screen.

You can tell the level of input they will receive based on the level of producer they are.

When Shannen was fired, Holly told producers she didn't want to continue with the show. They threatened to sue her and to garner wages from future jobs even if she was just bagging groceries. Holly asked them to at least let Shannen put out whatever statement she wanted about her departure.

Shannen had a pay or play deal, meaning she was entitled to be paid while the show ran even if she was no longer on it. She wanted to sue them to honor that deal, but her team thought her career wouldn't survive another public firing. Instead, they convinced her to put out a statement saying she'd quit. Shannen went along with it, but thought it was ridiculous that anyone would really believe she had quit a hit show.

Holly mentions that Brian Krause was dating Alyssa and was privy to everything she was doing behind the scenes to have Shannen ousted. He recently apologized to Holly for how difficult that time must have been for her.

She also says that she and her team spoke with producers to tell them the side deals were "not okay" but doesn't say more than that. But I'm assuming she had her own jealousies and wanted a piece of whatever Alyssa was getting. She also says she wanted to sue to get them to honor the pay or play deal, but never actually says it wasn't honored, which makes me wonder if she ended up with a financial windfall in the end.

Oh, Shannen also says they invited her to come back for the finale, but she declined.

R104, that just proves Shannen was NOT the main problem. If she was the major driving force of conflict, you wouldn't have people like Armin saying they were all witches (Holly, Alyssa and Rose).

I remember hearing after Shannen left that the set was still not a great place to work, but that it was much better. I'd love to hear Alyssa's side of things, though. For example, Shannen says that Alyssa documented everything that happened by speaking with the mediator and that Alyssa also threatened to sue. Objectively speaking, that means things were happening to Alyssa that were serious enough to warrant documenting and serious enough that the network was scared of an actual lawsuit. That ain't nothing. Also, Holly mentions Shannen being fired from 90210 for "being late" but if you were around in the early '90s you know the issues with Shannen ran a lot deeper than that. There was literal hair pulling and fist fights happening.

Not sure I believe them though, because I remember that back in 2007/2008 Shannen Doherty had an official website that I used to access, full of pictures, and clippings of old interviews and articles about her.

There was a clipping of an interview from August of 2001, which Shannen regarded as one of her most honest interviews ever, where she hinted strongly that she hadn't been fired from Charmed, but had decided to quit instead, and her reason for quitting was the fact that they wouldn't let her have creative control over her character.

Not only that, but she even went into great detail about how the executives of Spelling productions/paramount and the WB told her they were going to destroy her career and sue the crap out of her once she informed them she was not going to renew her contract for a fourth season; she said they tried to mislead her into believing she could not legally do that.

But then she hired a lawyer in December of 2000 and took the case to court, she claimed that about a month later, in early 2001 when she was shooting a movie 🎥 with Julie McMahon in Canada, she received a very cold phone call from the WB or Spelling productions people letting her know that she "had won" and was going to get written out of the show.

She said that when her final day on set came, she didn't get any flowers nor a thank you note, nothing at all and the entire crew seemed upset at her.
