Is the Youtube enhanced ad blocker detection PISSING YOU OFF?

Do this:

Install ublock origin Chrome extension.

Go to options->fillters purge all cache->update.

If you've got Mac products: HAHAHAHA you're stuck with the ads!

by Anonymousreply 40December 10, 2023 2:07 PM

Not with youtube Premium.

by Anonymousreply 1December 8, 2023 12:33 AM

If you're paying for youtube premium, why do you need an ad blocker? Why on earth would you pay for youtube??

by Anonymousreply 2December 8, 2023 12:34 AM

What has YouTube done? I rarely go there.

by Anonymousreply 3December 8, 2023 12:35 AM

More and more commercials r3.

by Anonymousreply 4December 8, 2023 12:56 AM

I use AdBlock and never see any ads on YouTube.

by Anonymousreply 5December 8, 2023 12:56 AM

I use AdBlock, too, but today Youtube started warning me that I could only see three videos before I was cut off. Clearing cookies, reader mode, incognito mode, etc. don't work if you're using Chrome. This is a change that youtube has been rolling out over the last couple of months. It hit my boyfriend a few weeks ago. It will get you too before long.

by Anonymousreply 6December 8, 2023 12:59 AM

Interesting to know R6. Thanks for the heads up. I will go try it out now and see what happens.

by Anonymousreply 7December 8, 2023 1:14 AM

It's worse than network TV now. Watch a 10 minute video and there's two commercials at the 3 minute mark and another two at 7 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 8December 8, 2023 1:32 AM

It's hilarious how quickly the uBlock team beats every move YT makes. And for the couple of hours it may take, private browsing mode works.

All this had made me do is finally switch from Chrome to Firefox

by Anonymousreply 9December 8, 2023 1:55 AM

[quote]Install ublock origin Chrome extension.

It doesn't work in Chrome. I use uBlock Origin and now actually have to watch 3 or 4 commercials before Youtube will let me watch a single video.

I can watch Youtube without commercials in Microsoft Edge (which completely sucks)

by Anonymousreply 10December 8, 2023 1:56 AM

r10 Google are changing Chrome so adblockers don't work at all on it, hence my move to Firefox

by Anonymousreply 11December 8, 2023 1:58 AM

The Brave browser enables you to watch YouTube videos without commercials.

by Anonymousreply 12December 8, 2023 2:02 AM

I used Firefox before, but it absolutely ruined my computer. I can't use it anymore. It completely fucked it up.

I'll just use Microsoft Edge, and of course, I'll just stop watching Youtube videos. I'll just watch a few on Edge, but it will be only be like 4 videos a week. I used to watch 80 videos a week. Not any more.

Fuck Youtube. I'm sorry, but making someone watch 3 to 4 commercials before you allow them to watch a single video. is bullshit.

I will NEVER, EVER pay those cunts a single penny to get rid of ads. Bye Youtube.

by Anonymousreply 13December 8, 2023 2:05 AM

I just tried Chrome with AdBlock on YouTube and no ads or any other issues.

by Anonymousreply 14December 8, 2023 2:08 AM

I used Adblock Plus for years with no issues, but like the poster upthread said they started warning me.

I can't believe how many friggin' commercials they play. If I see that young girl crying over that cheap piece of jewelry her cheap ass father gave her, one more time, well, I won't be held responsible for my actions.

by Anonymousreply 15December 8, 2023 2:10 AM

[quote] If I see that young girl crying over that cheap piece of jewelry her cheap ass father gave her, one more time, well, I won't be held responsible for my actions.

I'm am just warning every business & company in the world, if you advertise on Youtube, and I see the ad, you are automatically & permanently boycotted by my household. We will NEVER, EVER do business with you. I do not care what you are selling, we are not buying.

I have stated MY BOUNDARIES.

by Anonymousreply 16December 8, 2023 3:40 AM

I'm paying $80/mo. for YouTubeTV -- they should let me have an ad-free YouTube option for free.

by Anonymousreply 17December 8, 2023 3:44 AM

WTF R17? $80 a month????

by Anonymousreply 18December 8, 2023 3:47 AM

That's how much it costs. Still cheaper and better than cable.

I have Chrome and installed Adblocker for Youtube a few weeks ago and so far I don't have any problems. All ads are blocked.

Fuck those Youtube cunts and their endless commercials.

OP, your solution doesn't work anymore because yes, you won't see the ads, but YouTube detects those scripts and is now throttling the video speeds, so you'll experience the stream lagging and loading as you're trying to watch.

Best solution I've found so far is the FadBlock extension, which loads the ads but skips them within a second or two.

by Anonymousreply 21December 8, 2023 4:44 AM

Try Invidious, OP.

by Anonymousreply 22December 8, 2023 4:46 AM

r21 I'm using uBlock and no throttling, etc

by Anonymousreply 23December 8, 2023 5:12 AM

I've done everything possible to try to get YouTube to work with Firefox, but it doesn't. Firefox also seems to have issues with a lot of other situations and sites, so I find myself turning to Chrome a lot more often these days.

by Anonymousreply 24December 8, 2023 2:43 PM

R22 - went and read over the Invidious stuff. I'm going to try it - sounds like a potentially great solution. I currently use Edge with AdBlockers, but I started getting the warning a few weeks ago on Youtube. I logged out of my accounts, and now I have to manually search for the channels I've subscribed to, which is annoying, but I get no ads so far as long as I'm not signed into YouTube via my connected email.

by Anonymousreply 25December 8, 2023 4:32 PM

one of the youtubers said that youtube told him they were tripling the amount of ads so he could make more money but he knew it was so THEY could make more money. It isn't worth watching anymore with all the ads because it cuts everything into pieces so I stopped watching most of it.

by Anonymousreply 26December 8, 2023 4:35 PM

Adblocker for Youtube is all you need.

I watch thru my browser soni see no adds, we skip the ads on the TV while watching YouTube. Why pay?

by Anonymousreply 28December 8, 2023 5:50 PM

r24 What kind of problems?

by Anonymousreply 29December 8, 2023 7:08 PM

r29 Specifically, with respect to YouTube, no matter how many times I turn off UBlock, it refuses to acknowledge that I'm not using an ad blocker.

With respect to other sites -- I'm constantly running into issues where I have to clear my cache or do some other extra work in order to get it to work. Or they just don't work at all. And I'm talking about regular, mainstream sites like Kohl's or JCPenney.

by Anonymousreply 30December 8, 2023 7:18 PM

R27 thanks.

by Anonymousreply 31December 8, 2023 7:31 PM

I guess it's slightly different for everyone. Ublock works for me, but Adblock does not.

by Anonymousreply 32December 8, 2023 7:57 PM

r30 Unless you have other extensions active which you're not aware of sounds like a bizarrely unique case

by Anonymousreply 33December 8, 2023 7:58 PM

r32 Nah, uBlock works fine, it's just people aren't properly updating the scripts. To correct your post, though, they advise you to only purge and update the uBlock Filters - Quick Fixes filter. Or they have other extensions active which are stopping uBlock from working

by Anonymousreply 34December 8, 2023 8:01 PM

OP I use a Mac w/Chrome - have no problems with Ublock at the moment.

by Anonymousreply 35December 8, 2023 8:04 PM

I've had Youtube Music (previously known as Google Play Music) since 2017 and it came with Youtube Premium (then known as Youtube Red) for $9.99/mo, and the price will be increasing for me for the first time to $13.99/mo in February. With as much Youtube as I watch, it's worth to not ever see a single ad. It's jarring when I watch Youtube on someone else's phone (invariably in light mode) or TV and all of a sudden there's some loud informercial.

by Anonymousreply 36December 8, 2023 9:59 PM

If you have an Android, I recommend NewTube. You won't see any ads.

R24, Firefox absolutely ruined a computer of mine. I can't use it anymore. And there's no getting in touch with anyone at Firefox.

by Anonymousreply 38December 10, 2023 1:18 PM

LOL, how did Firefox "ruin" your computer? I am SO GLAD I'm not in IT because I could not deal with people who make ridiculous assertions like that.

by Anonymousreply 39December 10, 2023 2:05 PM

R38 That made me laugh
