Best egg nog recipe?

No prunes, please!

by Anonymousreply 16December 4, 2023 10:55 AM

I’ve said it on other threads and I’ll say it again on this one.

The Martha Stewart egg nog recipe is the best.

It does call for raw eggs and lots of heavy cream.

Plus the fact that it calls for bourbon, brandy and cognac, I think. Or is it rum?

3 delicious spirits, non the less.

The best recipes all contain raw egg, which is too risky. So just stick to the commercial stuff unless you have a source for "safe" eggs.

Who the fuck wants to make egg nog? Just buy a half gallon of the shit and pep it up with booze.

Real eggnog is lighter, more flavorful and better for you than the commercial crap.

I have a gallon of nog, but no eggs. Any good substitutes for eggs?

Try this instead- A New Orleans classic- 'Bourbon Milk Punch' (Egg Nog's little brother - tastes great and fewer calories)

1 1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup bourbon

3 tbsp granulated sugar

4 tsp vanilla extract

nutmeg

ice

Directions Fill a shaker half way with ice. Pour all ingredients into the skier and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Pour into a glass with ice and garnish with a dusting of nutmeg.

Eudora Welty had one. I’m a lazy ass. Look it up. I’ve made it and it’s great.

Ewww , drinking eggs. Eeeewwww

I would think the eggs are literally cooked with all that alcohol.

Or at least the alcohol kills bacteria or salmonella if it’s present.

I do!

It’s Martha’s.

For many years, I’ve been making it for both myself and also for clients.
