Annie Leibovitz asks Queen Elizabeth II to remove her crown for a photo

…because it looks too “dressy.” This is hardly new, but I had never seen this video clip and found it hilarious. The Queen reacts to it all with dignified annoyance. This was apparently a minor scandal in the UK tabloids at the time.

You could turn that into an AbFab sketch without changing a single line.

Wow. Queen Elizabeth II could be quite the bitch!

I remember this

The Queen asked Annie to remove her nose.

Annie Leibovitz's photos are overrated. She's always pulling stunts. There's no subtlety or depth to what she's doing. Her celebrity photos say more about Annie than her subjects. Yes, I realize that the document-er is always present, but the subject should shine through, as well.

R2 Annie had photographed some of the most famous and powerful people in the world, so I’m sure she came from a place of knowing what she was doing.

Still, according to that footage she appeared presumptuous, making a fuss for her crew and daughter to meet the Queen, for a long, drawn out fuss right at the start.

Fake news. Or at least misleading news.

Her huff was so benign, really. She was so rarely is seen that way.

Charles, on the other hand, with the pens (no pun intended). He knew he was on camera and still acted like an entitled little asshole.

r7 What rubbish! We know as a Reptilian... Queen Elizabeth had zero human emotions.

The resulting photographs…

You are so wrong about that.

R11. Some are. Some are great. Mostly it became joyless Oscar stars & Vanity Fair promo stuff. When she takes on other subjects - not celebs - I like her shots more.

by Anonymousreply 12November 30, 2023 4:37 PM

Really? I thought she asked if she could eat her out.

No one is better at celebrity photos. No one.
