It's all just a big scam, right?
In theory, the notion of the blockchain makes a lot of sense.
However, crypto is based on the greater fool theory and would make ponzi himself blush.

It avails itself particularly well to the use of fraudsters, blackmailers, and organized criminals.
And it is sexy for tech-bro douches who want to abolish sovereign governments and taxation.

Yikes:
"Binance has agreed to pay more than $4 billion in fines and other penalties. Zhao, one of the most powerful figures in crypto, has agreed to step down as CEO from the exchange that he founded, and he will pay $200 million in fines.
Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, admitted to engaging in anti-money laundering, unlicensed money transmitting and sanctions violations.
US officials described this as the biggest-ever corporate resolution that includes criminal charges for an executive.
Following a years-long investigation, authorities allege Binance allowed bad actors to freely transact on the platform, enabling everything from child sex abuse and narcotics to terrorist financing for ISIS, Al Qaeda and Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades."
And yes, crypto is a horrible scam fuelled by idiots who just want to 'get rich quick' instead of truly evaluating the technology and the use of it. Bitcoin can't even handle the transactions a single normal supermarket does. Libertarian cryptobros were always extremely naive if they ever thought that governments would just lie down and let them bypass them (which was always the main appeal of crypto - to conduct transactions for illegal activity). Governments have a lot of power - they control the military, the judiciary and so on.

Remember all those shills and cunts running around this place telling us all that Bitcoin was going immediately to $1 million, and we all had to BUY NOW!!! or be priced out forever?
Whenever anyone raised problems or objections, they always responded that we were too stupid to understand it.

Bitcoin went to $68K+ back in Nov of 2021. If you somehow bought it back in Feb 2011 it was $1. Before then, you could get it for pennies.
So, if you acquired 10,000 bitcoins back when it was less than $1, in Nov 2021 it was worth $680mm.
Of course, that's the dream of every person. The reality is that you probably bought it for some comical amount and sold for less, thinking it would rise forever.
