Yes, R3, that is the rutting season--at least for the Lower Peninsula. This year I believe it goes into early Dec.

True, R5. Back around 2015/16 a big buck totaled my aunt's gigantic old Buick. Thankfully she wasn't hurt.

I figured it was in revenge of my uncle (aunt's and my late Mom's notoriously laconic younger brother), who I caught prepping for a hunt.

I said "Uncle W, what are you going hunting for?"

He replied "Deer."

I said "You know that's out of season, right?" (It was summer)

Uncle: "Only season I know is salt and pepper."

Me: "Ohhhh kayyyyy."

I would have called fish and game officials on him.

R7, I actually did that on my former next-door about 25 years ago, but back then he was EXTREMELY irresponsible both for hunting out of season and firearms handling. Our state game wardens arrested him and confiscated ALL his guns, including antique firearms his grandfather and uncle left to him.

My uncle was dying from a medley of Agent Orange-caused cancer, diabetes, and cardiac arrythmia. Plus he was my favorite uncle, a brilliant, multifaceted man irreparably damaged by the Vietnam conflict. So I left him be.

Of course it was in Michigan.

Pray for us. All the deer are horny this month. 😭

This type of mess happens on I-94 right now Detroit Metro Airport constantly. There is a colony of deer that literally lives off of the freeway.
