This is a terrible song, OP. And it would have never charted in any era.

That being said, I used to love to listen to the B sides of 45s when I was a kid, always keen to discover some unheard gem. It only happened a few times. The only one I can recall was the B-side of Ring My Bell by Anita Ward. It was called If I Could Feel That Old Feeling Again and I loved it as much as RMB. But I haven't listened to it in decades.

I loved Nitelife, but remember my first reaction to seeing Alicia as being “what’s wrong with her?” However, I’ve kept her near to my heart.

A friend of mine (may he RIP) did drag - he was shy and scared and did Alicia's "I Love The Nightlife."

He did it with his eyes closed and ended up poking some queen in the eye (someone trying to tip him) because he wouldn't open his eyes as he gestured to the music.
