Mean Girls musical movie actor shamed for not being good looking enough in Jonathan Bennett role

I feel bad for the casting department. We live in a world where Timothee Chalamet is being pushed as this generation's hottest young actor. Even bucktoothed weasel-eyed Taylor Swift is often misidentified as "beautiful". Within these absurd parameters, of course an average looking actor will be cast as the handsome stud. It's a sign of the times.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Jonathan Bennett is the one doing the trolling/shaming.

Rajiv Surendra, the Kevin from the original movie, is gay, and his apartment tour is one of the more enchanting apartment tour videos I've seen. Very interesting guy.

I actually thought the girl playing regina was very sexy (the way real high school girls can be, not the skinny Hollywood way Rachel McAdams was) although it was weird she was so curvy at the start of the movie when one of the plot points of course involves her getting fatter because of the protein bars, and I couldn't tell much of a difference.

She has an amazing voice, although it is more of a pop star voice than the others. The girl who played Janis and the girl who played Karen had especially good Broadway voices. The lead girl's voice is okay but she really suffered in comparison with the others. i could not figure out why they cast her other than she looks like she could be Amy Adams's daughter.

I was also confused at first when I originally saw the trailer, but that is in fact not Amy Adams. It's Jenna Fischer.

Female actors can be dumpy frumps.

While I think Bennett is much more handsome, this guy is fine. He's attainable cute, not out of your league hot.

Frankly, Bennett was probably a bit too good looking for the part in the original. This guy has a solid following from his Summer I Turned Pretty gig.
