Pauly Shore proposes to Drew Barrymore on her talk show

Pauly Shore came with his own question for Drew Barrymore on her daytime talk show: Will you marry me?

The comedian, who is one of Barrymore's longtime pals and even babysat her growing up, surprised the actress and the show's entire studio audience by getting down on one knee for the big moment at the end of Friday's episode.

Standing in front of the main stage together, the pair were preparing to wrap up the show when Shore admitted that he's not currently in a relationship. "It's very, very difficult for me to have a girlfriend," he explained, "because it's hard for me to let love in because I'm scared to get hurt."

When Barrymore asked him what he's afraid of, Shore replied, "Well, I want to do it with the right person. That's the most important thing," before adding that the right person for him would be his "best friend."

He continued, "Someone that, it's not about sex, it's not about how you look, it's about, 'Yo, let's go get a sandwich.' You know what I mean? More of a friendship."

"Well, I want you to find that friend and companion that you never have sex with," Barrymore declared, "and that you walk the dog and eat and hang out and — well, maybe occasional sex, but have the best friendship with."

Shore then turned to the audience to acknowledge how Barrymore had been "really appreciative" of his late mother, Mitzi Shore, throughout the episode. As the host enthused about the Comedy Store owner being "one of my personal idols," the Encino Man star quietly walked back onto the stage and sparked confusion from the actress when he asked her to stay where she was standing.

"What Drew doesn't know is that my mother was not happy when you married Tom Green," he said, referring to Barrymore's ex-husband, with whom she was married from 2001 until 2002. "And she said to me, she goes, 'Pauly, Drew should marry you.'"

"That's how Mitzi felt?" Barrymore interjected. To which a laughing Shore answered, "No, that's how I feel too."

"And that's why I came here tonight, on this glorious night, to present you with a ring," he continued, slowly dropping to one knee and pulling out a ring with a large white jewel at the center.

A shocked Barrymore covered her face with her hand. "Are you proposing, Pauly?"

"I duly wed," he replied as the audience began to cheer. "Might as well, right? I mean, it makes sense!"

Barrymore began to laugh as she took the rock from his hand and put it on her finger, calling it "an amazing engagement ring, by the way."

However, when it came to actually agreeing to become Mrs. Shore, Barrymore told viewers that they'd have to watch the show's next episode to "find out my answer."

"This has been a wild ride!" she exclaimed. "Pauly Shore, I love you so much!"

Drew is a train wreck but Pauly is a fucking idiot.

I hope she kicks his punk ass straight through the wall.

Publicity stunt to get viewers to tune in.

She's got suckers hooked for at least one more episode.

I guess her ratings went down when she crossed the picket line, so she's getting desperate.

Rumor has it that Paula is looking to mount a comeback since seeing the recent success of Data from The Goonies and Brendan Fraser.

I could see him doing the same types of roles that Paul are end played when he had an acting resurgence in the early 2000s. Maybe it was Boogie Nights?

*the same roles Paul Rubens played

Pauly Shore never had an eighth of the charm of Data or Brendan. Or Paul Rubens, for that matter.

Like a half-assed marriage proposal would make people forget you're a scab, lol.

It will be nice when she and fellow scab Sherri Shephard are cancelled at the end of the season.

Paul Rubens actually had talent. Pauly Shore? Not so much. Publicity stunt. Do they still do November sweeps?

by Anonymousreply 7November 3, 2023 11:08 PM

Paul Newman?
