In her defense, I think her feelings for him have always been genuine. He is a MESS but she likely assumed that because she is beautiful, glamorous, A-list, and accustomed to getting whatever she wants, she could provide the love, comfort, support and stability necessary to 'cure' him. He may have believed it as well. Many powerful and successful women feel a powerful attraction to men who are broken and need to be rescued.

I would prefer to hear that they get along well enough and their kids like each other. They could both use a break in relationship instability and they are getting OLD.
