Well, she’s also refused to go the plastic surgery route. Maybe after a lifetime of having her looks be such a focus, she’s glad to be off that constant treadmill, and to just look like a normally attractive person now.

She’s probably fine. I don’t get heavy alcoholic vibes from her.
I had a one-off grandma seizure like fifteen years ago. I hadn’t been binge drinking, hadn’t been drugging whatsoever, hadn’t under an unusual amount of stress. I can’t recall specifically, but I think I was consuming my usual volume of water that day and in the days preceding.
I saw a neurologist at Cornell Weill and he put me through a battery of tests — MRI, EEG, etc. Everything was normal. He told me that they (Big Neurology) basically allow everybody one of these events in their lifetime without it raising any serious alarm bells. It can just be a random misfiring of neurons. More than one such episode in a lifetime, and particularly more than one within a decade, is obviously a pattern. And a pattern of seizures is generally a compulsory diagnosis epilepsy whose prescription is a lifetime of anticonvulsant meds.
The worst part for me is that I was alone at a CVS at the time and I evidently peed my pants for all the fellow shoppers to point and gawk at.

Drinking too much water and getting a seizure, and a couple of years earlier getting on a balance board "just one more time" after a workout and before leaving the gym then becoming distracted and falling off of it, causing a harrowing accident involving the excruciating pain of a broken femur, a surgery to insert metal rods which soon lead to a staph infection and another emergency surgery with three blood transfusions.
Maybe stop obsessing about healthy living and relax a little. And eat at In and Out once in a while.

[quote]r16 I'm confused about why she was guzzling water to the point of seizure. The article didn't explain.
It said she was preparing for a one woman show. So she was probably rehearsing a lot and thought extra water would help with the exertion (?)
[quote]Never understood the water thing.
I think everyone started carrying bottled water in the early 90s - maybe? It always seemed so unnecessary to me. Like, for hundreds of years people drank water here and there as thirst required, but then suddenly it was vital to drink 8 glasses a day… or whatever it is? If it were so urgently important, everyone would have dropped dead decades ago.

One can’t point to any pictures where she looked suddenly stretched or unnaturally tight or anything. And I think avoiding the knife fits her personality. From what I’ve read she’s tried Botox and all kinds of topical treatments, but drew the line on surgery stuff. At least so far.
She has two daughters and I imagine she doesn’t want them to think you have to rearrange your face to have people value you. (Of course, it’s always naturally good looking people who are kind of prissy like that!)

She was treated by a doc from the 80s, apparently.
Grand mal seizures haven’t been called that in a long time. They are tonic clonic.

I worked with a guy who would ONLY drink Gatorade all day long, in the office. I tried to gently instruct him that it has a lot of sugar and you should only be drinking it after vigorous work or exercise. He didn't care, he liked the flavor. He was a great big fat person then, I bet he's no longer with us (that was 20 or so years ago).
by Anonymous | reply 66 | November 2, 2023 3:50 PM |
Gatorade is really sweet. However, when i used to drink alcoholically, i would often down a small bottle of the citrus Zero some mornings when i was feeling particularly dehydrated. Those were probably the days when my BAC was at least 2 times over the legal limit and probably in dire need of IV fluids.

by Anonymous | reply 94 | November 3, 2023 9:43 AM |
I think the thankfulness is implied, R87. By mentioning him she’s publicizing his helpfulness and thanking him. She almost certainly formally thanked him in private.
There was an actor (I think on Suddenly Susan?) who was friends with her and committed suicide over his alcoholism. I think he was photographed carrying cases of beer into her place shortly prior to his death. I could buy her being a boozer, especially since this story is weird. But I’ve never seen a photo of her looking disheveled. Her weight fluctuated, but not hugely. She never looks bloated. She seems to be well-liked and have a decent professional reputation.
But you don’t accidentally drink enough water to cause a seizure. There is some other issue making you drink a ton of water. Also, there is a good chance a woman her age who has had two kids would be peeing every 30 seconds if drinking that much water. That’s just not normal behavior. She is leaving something out, but it could be anything. Trying to flush her system for a drug test, on some weird fad diet, trying to lose 5 pounds of water weight to fit into an outfit.

J’adore Brooke, but I do think it would lighten her (strong) face up if she plucked just a little from beneath her brows. I’m not asking for some crazy 1/8 of an inch or anything - which would surely give her a heart attack - but as she’s aged the brows have gotten lower. They can still be thick and straight, fine, but really, making them just a touch thinner would help.
This is the only pic I’ve ever seen where her eyebrows looked to have been shaped a little. Or maybe they were bleached a shade, to match the hair. Anyway, she should try that approach again. And I say this with love.

[quote] J’adore Brooke, but I do think it would lighten her (strong) face up if she plucked just a little from beneath her brows.
I totally agree. I always say that in the DL Brooke Shields threads. Her eyebrows were her signature, but they're simply too thick and look like they're sitting directly on top of her eyes.
She needs to pluck some hairs. 1/8th of an inch from the underside of her brows is nothing. She's got such thick brows to begin with.
And yes, age and gravity have brought her brows down even further.
