They do monitor it, but there is privacy built into to most systems of larger hotel chains. I worked for Westin Hotel Corp. & had a friend in IT. I asked. He said they generally monitor for marketing purposes & dont care if everyone is watching porn. He said they'd rather that as people usually order room service afterwards. It's the room service peeps that are seeing what you are doing.......

use your cell provider not the hotel's network. Use a vpn if you are concerned about privacy. It's not advised to plug your own electronic gadgets into any hotel usb-b or c sockets, by the way. Bring your own electrical charger

I use my Spectrum out-of-home wifi. Plus, I also have Nord VPN. Also, I have a friend who loans me her Verizon jetpack to link to their hotspots. She hardly ever uses it and only has it for when when she drives cross the country twice a year, so she's glad to have it be used.

Wait, R1, you're saying they monitor what you're watching even on your laptop? Not just through the TV's streaming/internet apps?

Isn’t it more that they can monitor it but probably don’t very often? After all, it’d be a full time job to constantly monitor loads of connections and devices.

A VPN might (repeat "might") show what site you are connected to, but will NOT show what you are watching at that site...the actual datastream is encrypted; they cannot "see" what you are watching. Of course, if you are at BELAMIONLINE.com, they will be able to pretty well guess.
