What happens when hot shot actor Stuart Whitman is hired to infiltrate a sanitarium & finds he can't get out? In "Shock Treatment," every cliche character & plot twist was used to shock 1964 audiences, but today plays like camp. Lauren Bacall is the institution's single-minded doctor. Roddy McDowall is the homicidal lunatic who Whitman is assigned to investigate. Carol Lynley is the lovely young frigid/nympho patient that Whitman wants to know better! Absurd but fun chills, my look @ schlocky "Shock"...

Here's the best free copy of "Shock Treatment" I could find, from YouTube. Young Stuart Whitman reminds me of Colin Farrell in this thriller...

He seemed gay, to me.

Was Stu able to withstand the charms of McDowall's roddy during "Shock's" shooting?

I don't like westerns...but...I did watch Cimarron Strip.

This is such a fun movie and would make a great double bill with Samuel Fuller's SHOCK CORRIDOR, another b/w movie of the same vintage set in an insane asylum.

Reply 6, Yes, Shock Corridor came out the previous year with a similar premise, and was even more whackadoodle!
