R6 again. Never, ever understood the love for Martin. He seems like an acquired taste. To my eyes, he has a potato face, and his humor falls flat. I think he cultivates an intellectual persona--that's his schtick.

For some reason, I thought Martin attended Antioch or Oberlin. I've apparently confused him with someone else.

He’s a successful performer with a really broad mix of creative content, low brow and then high brow. Like many comedians, he’s probably an impossibly complex person to be with. I know he’s a really accomplished banjo player. Some of his films have aged really badly but many performed well at the box office. Many comedians suffer nervous breakdowns and really struggle in between periods of success in their work and lives.

I remember laughing at some of his SNL skit, one in particular was about a cat who could drive a car. As kids, we thought that was so silly and clever, and we loved it when each episode ended in a fiery crash, footage obviously taken from an old film.
