Is Freddie Highmore a genius?
Highmore was educated at The Brookland Junior and Infant school in Hampstead Garden Suburb near Golders Green in the London Borough of Barnet until the age of 11 and gained a scholarship to attend Highgate School, an independent school in Highgate, London.
In November 2007 his home was in North London.
In 2008, Highmore received A* grades in English language and English literature, maths, Spanish, French, Latin, geography, biology, chemistry and physics in his GCSEs exam. In 2010, Highmore once again achieved A* grades in maths, further maths, French and Spanish in his A-level exams.
From 2010 to 2014, Highmore attended Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he earned a double first in Spanish and Arabic. He also enrolled at the London School of Economics to study finance at summer school during the summer break at Cambridge in 2011. Highmore worked at Gulf Bank in Kuwait as an intern in 2012 and at a law firm in Madrid during his year abroad while filming the first two seasons of Bates Motel, which made him briefly consider becoming a lawyer after graduation.
Apart from English, Highmore is fluent in Spanish and French and semi-fluent in Arabic.

Freddie was amazing as Norman Bates in Bates Motel.
In retrospect, I don't think that any young actor today could have nailed that character, the way Freddie did.
Seasons 4 and 5 were the high point, with his portrayal of Norman's descent into madness.
He was so spot-on.
It's shocking to me that he never won an Emmy for that role.

I liked Bates Motel. Its a shame more people didn't watch it. I saw those memes of the Good Doctor the other month though and he was certainly doing... Something in that though

So he has had a normal education, why would that make him a genius?
Can't help but feel it's telling about how Cambridge hands out the firsts if he's only semi-fluent in Arabic.

He speaks the Castillian perfectly. I love it when he speaks it as doctor what’s-his-name.

No. Isaac Newton was a genius. Freddie Highmore is a good actor and an intelligent man, and also a prime example of the benefit of having at least £30,000 spent annually on your education, instead of £5,000 which is the annual amount spent on educating a pupil in a state school.
He did well to win a scholarship, but he was already halfway there by being born to upper-middle class parents who could afford to have him educated at a private primary school.
Given his background, and the amounts sent on his education, he would have to be a real dimwit to fail to succeed academically (see: Prince Harry).
