R3 That sums it up really. Most gender critical people say they want trans people to have equal rights, they just don't want them in single sex spaces where they feel vulnerable.

But then they'll often make comments like the OP or will mock the appearance of trans people. Then it becomes more apparent that they're just anti trans people in any walk of life, not just single sex spaces.

That's why I struggle to get on board with gender critical arguments; especially as the trans people I know in real life just want to get on with their lives.

Including in the entertainment industry (directors, writers, cinematographers, editors, choreographers, etc.)

R24, I hear it and it drives me crazy. Yes, I guess I am "trans critical" in that I don't think a transwoman is an actual woman. She's something a little different. I also think - and this might make not so trans critical - that difference is usually unimportant and not worth even mentioning.

I have zero issues with trans (why should I?) just living their lives. Zero. Except for when their being "trans" happens to infringe on (mostly women's) someone else's rights. And that's not because I give two shits about a trans person being trans, but because other people (mostly women) have rights too. Then we just need to figure that out situation as fairly as possible so everyone feels safe and comfortable.

And I mean it. I am a card carrying liberal democrat. Not a bigoted right winger. A trans pilot? Good for her! There's a trans barista at my local coffee shop. I adore her.
