Dream Wife -1965

An unsold pilot with Shirley Jones.

She was so pretty hair and one of the RARE occasions that she has long/longish hair.

She could be my FAKE dream wife anyday- back then

I watched about 15 minutes. Not hard to guess why it went unsold.

I want to suck antagonist Ted Bessell dry.

Hard to believe this is only five years before The Partridge Family, in which she and her clothes looked atrocious.

Was "Liza" supposed to be competition for Samantha and Jeanie?

Also, did Ted Bessell get a nose job after this?

by Anonymousreply 4October 14, 2023 8:16 PM

Yes, a blander version of Bewitched.

R3- You agree with me- Shirley Jones was SO much prettier with her longer hair and her outfits on this show than The Partridge Family.

Meh.

Interesting that the actress playing Ted Bessell's character's mother (Rosemary DeCamp) became his mother-in-LAW on "That Girl."

by Anonymousreply 7October 14, 2023 9:26 PM

Yes, Shirley looks very pretty with longer hair but the show title should have been Privacy Invasion Wife, not Dream Wife.

Also, Ted Bessell played a creepy sexual harasser.

And then Donald May ended up on “The Edge of Night” for a decade

by Anonymousreply 9October 14, 2023 9:56 PM

Rosemary DeCamp played just about everyone's mother.

I thought for a moment that was either Ron Howard or his brother.

(It's not)

by Anonymousreply 11October 14, 2023 10:34 PM

Shirley's character was apparently a mind reader (the extra talent referred to in the theme song) and this was apparently a shameless attempt to copy Bewitched.
