I thought this was interesting
I had forgotten that George W. Bush had invited "ex-gays" to the White House when he was trying to pass a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. Now he pals around with Ellen. But he never apologized to the gay community.
And I didn't know that Exodus was part of a secretive cabal that included Mike Pence and Kellyanne Conway

The whole 'ex-gay'/conversion therapy thing is actually still alive and well in church circles. Now it's "private counseling (on the sin of same-sex attraction)" and happens behind closed doors a lot more. Still groups and camps, but it's supposedly a lot more quiet now.

Good point. It's important not to forget how terrible President Bush was. People are starting to forget because Trump has been so monstrous. But Bush inflicted enormous damage on America and the World. And yes, he also proposed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage -- he was no friend and no moderate.
