I always laugh when people say “guys in real life never look like guys in fraternities in movies”

Then you see photos of real life frats from back in the 80s etc. and the guys ALL LOOK LIKE THE GUYS IN THE MOVIES.

Of course different frat divisions attract different people, but certain groups had 100% white and 100% at least semi-attractive guys. It’s so funny. You just know these guys were probably all assholes too.

OP, that pic isn't the norm

Plenty of dweeb looking and ugly guys were in frats back then

by Anonymousreply 4October 8, 2023 1:11 AM

R4 yes. But they were different divisions. Each college/university that has frats has different Frat divisions, like you have Lambda Chi Alpha, and Kappa Alpha, and so on. People don’t know that each division has its own focus. They aren’t all the same. Some frats/sororities are for nerdy types who are about learning. Some are for athletic types. Etc.

Some frats did have mostly attractive males. Or at least decent looking.

by Anonymousreply 5October 8, 2023 1:15 AM

I would fuck each and every one of them

by Anonymousreply 6October 8, 2023 1:18 AM

I fucked guys in fraternities at Cornell. 4 decades ago. I'm old! The frats there were not filled with assholes, at all. But you know, good school. I'd say only 1/4 of the frat boys I fucked around with, were out on campus. But inside their frats, it was more common knowledge who was into dick. One of the most gorgeous guys I ever fucked in my long career as the whore of Babylon was a Cornell frat boy. We were both bisexual at the time and not too ready to go all in, so to speak. Pity.

by Anonymousreply 15October 8, 2023 2:03 AM

R13 being that most of these guys were in college and in a frat (usually meaning they come from $$$) I doubt these guys were interested in doing porn. This was the 80s. Not 2023 where youths do it like nothing.

In my frat at Cornell they threw a kid out who was a boarder in the house (not a brother) because he was gay. In the early 80s. I have to take exception with R7's comment that "inside their frats, it was more common knowledge who was into dick." His post seems like fantasy. Granted there was one frat that supposedly had a number of gay guys that might have been the exception. But they weren't out. There were some gay men who were out but none of them were in a fraternity.

by Anonymousreply 63October 8, 2023 4:18 AM

I did attend Cornell and gay sex was so EASY to find despite your claims everyone was so fucking closeted. Maybe you were shut down. Or fug. Eyes open at parties at Hillcrest (SAE) and neighbor Alpha Delt and I'd make the connection. My gf was in a sorority. I never had the slightest interest to join a frat but I liked frat boys and the party atmosphere sometimes. I knew of 5 places on campus to find sex or a pick up anytime of day - Tearooms at Willard Straight, Olin, Goldwin Smith (2!) and the steam room and gang showers at Teagle. I used to study late at night in McGraw and 2 of my fuckbuddies (we didn't have that word then) would drop by and we'd lock the door and go at it. One of my frat buddies started as a pick up at Goldwin Smith and 2 were from Teagle. One from Teagle a frat nerd and would take me to his chem lab to screw. We'd fuck on those cold hard black epoxy tables and I remember the light coming through the Venetian blinds. Very atmospheric.

A different time.

Also when I came out end of junior year it was a gay couple in a frat (no longer living there) who shamed me into coming out because they said it was spineless and tacky to be closeted.

To the neinsagers, feel free to carry on.

by Anonymousreply 64October 8, 2023 4:54 AM

R64 only you are lying. Just drop it and move on. Why do you feel the need to enter every thread and lie and make up stories? You need to see a therapist and get off here.

by Anonymousreply 65October 8, 2023 5:01 AM

R64 No one said gay sex wasn't easy to find. It was about if gay men were out, in fraternities. I never had sex with a guy at Cornell but I had several guys come on to me and I had friends who came out while we were at school. But I also had a close friend who later came out as gay and I didn't know it at all, at college. He even had a crush on me and I couldn't tell. So some people (including me) were closeted. You think that was unusual in the 70s/80s?

What are I don't know what you mean by the tearooms at Willard Straight Hall. I used to work at Teagle, yeah the steam rooms were pickup places but it always seemed to be old guys on the custodial staff in there (at the time anyone could use them).

by Anonymousreply 66October 8, 2023 5:37 AM

People have different experiences and they perceive things in their own way, R66. You had yours I had mind and I have no beef with you.

It's the OP who keeps dismissing me and he didn't go to Cornell. He seems to want a thread that is fetishistic picture album of vintage hot frat boys. So now has posted many such pictures, and shuts down any conversation and memories about real life frat experiences. Because, after all, "You just know these guys were probably all assholes too." IMO a confused but predictable psychology.

I'm going to stop posting because what's the point with such hostility?

You do know that "tearoom" means cruisy toilet? Willard Straight had one down near the rear exit. You had to go down a LONG narrow stairway. There were even peep holes between the marble stalls but they were never big enough to be glory holes. No security patrols, and plenty of advance notice for any new arrivals. Perfect tearoom.

by Anonymousreply 67October 8, 2023 11:42 AM

While some of you argue about frats and Cornell and frats at Cornell, does anyone want to talk about R18, who REEKS of sex?

by Anonymousreply 68October 8, 2023 12:00 PM

OP, you are just driving home the fact that most DLer's are stuck lusting after white guys who look like they belong in a 80s or 90s frat. Expand your horizons!

Classic briefs and not a rioded out body in sight.- How I loved the late 80s/ early 90s! Also I had those blue briefs!

by Anonymousreply 71October 8, 2023 12:34 PM

I think Animal House (1978) had HUGE impacts on fraternities. Even today, Animal House is still held up as a standard for many Freshman dreaming of getting bids. They may not actually watch the entire movie, but they've seen clips or heard enough about it to want that unchecked debauchery. Frats in the 90s and especially the 80s lived up to a lot of the Animal House movie ideals.

I love how every frat guy from the 80s and 90s look like versions of Tom Cruise in Risky Business (1983).

If anyone didn't know the quintessential fraternity and American college experience is in the South. Two power sources in southern universities, sports (primarily Football) and Greek Life. Southern frats were the most ridging in their acceptance, no gays, no jews, no blacks, no asians, maybe a white passing latino. Today, many have opened up a bit, but there remain chapters that quietly abide by those rules, possibly admitting one minority per rush season. "Top Tier" frats on southern campuses will still be white and middle or upper middle class if not outright wealthy.

And, based on my travels, the US college system, with fraternities, homecoming, cheerleaders, and dorms is highly desired by young people around the world. I met a German teenager that told me really wanted to go to college in the US, see if the frats were real and do all the things he saw in movies. So, we have a really unique college culture. College Greek life is certainly a fun part of college, if you can be admitted into their circles.

Modern-ish Frat Boys: Pike - Florida State University 2015 - Still a house full of fucking hotties and rich kids. Swoon!

by Anonymousreply 77October 8, 2023 1:57 PM

Were white briefs still widely worn by college-aged guys in the mid-80s? Or was that a hazing type thing?

by Anonymousreply 78October 8, 2023 1:57 PM

R78 It's kind of hard to remember what other guys wore for underwear 40 years ago never mind what I wore, but I think I used to wear white briefs, yeah. But a lot of guys wore colored or striped briefs or things like that. I don't remember a lot of boxers. They wouldn't have been comfortable with tight jeans. The shorts that guys wore (like Addidas, or gym shorts) were too short for boxers, as well. And boxer briefs weren't around yet.

by Anonymousreply 79October 8, 2023 2:07 PM

r70 I wore Jockey briefs like these in 1976. Jim Palmer ads and posters were everywhere. I bought them at Bloomingdales.

By 1985, I was wearing boxer shorts. Not boxer briefs, just regular boxers. They may have been a little bit more tapered than most. It was 40 years ago. I'm still wearing regular cotton boxers, in solids, stripes, patterns, in broadcloth and oxford cloth. I hate the boxer briefs most men wear today, with some designer or corporation name screaming at the assline.

My alma mater, Drew University, did not have fraternities/sororities (1970s). Clubs and activities such as the Intentional Community, Rugby Club, DUDS (Drew University Dramatic Society) tried to take their place. I did enjoy my four years there, but I don't have any experience with a fraternity to judge.

As for gay sex, I'm sure it went on, but I can't remember any cruising spots on campus -- and I certainly DID look for them. I (and I imagine others) took the Erie-Lackawanna to Hoboken and the PATH to Greenwich Village.

I was a Pi Kappa Alpha (Pika) at Penn State in the 1980’s. There was definitely some gay sex going on, I mostly found out about it years later. by Anonymousreply 119October 9, 2023 1:32 AM

It's time for your minders to adjust your meds, R118.

The tall blonde in the shirt was the designated house bull. Only the most talented bottoms could take his thick endowment.

by Anonymousreply 121October 9, 2023 1:36 AM

All these frats and not a brown skinned one among them, the way God intended!

by Anonymousreply 122October 9, 2023 2:16 AM

I feel like the people asking "Why are there only white guys in frats?" never actually lived through the 80s.

by Anonymousreply 123October 9, 2023 5:54 AM

God Damn, there is not one dude in that pic I wouldn't fuck.

That said, there were plenty of non-hotties in most frats back then

by Anonymousreply 124October 11, 2023 1:44 AM

In my fraternity, and everywhere at my university, we never used the word "frat". It was always "fraternity". I suppose it may have been different elsewhere, but when I see "frat", I always assume the person saying it was not in one.

by Anonymousreply 125October 11, 2023 2:03 AM

R125 funny since you didn’t even graduate from a college yet alone being in a frat. I told you to get off the thread with your fictional stories.

by Anonymousreply 126October 11, 2023 2:05 AM

No one who was ever actually IN a fraternity says "frat."

"Don't call a fraternity a frat. You wouldn't call your country a cunt."

by Anonymousreply 131October 11, 2023 3:07 AM

YOU DON'T KNOW ME!

by Anonymousreply 132October 11, 2023 3:23 AM

R25 R27 I was in one and we always used the word frat. But we usually referred to where we lived as the house. I mean it wasn't a cult, you called it what you felt like calling it. That was late 70s - early 80s. I don't know about now. You might say to someone "He's in my fraternity." Or you might say, about another house, "That frat has the best parties." I think the words were interchangeable.

by Anonymousreply 133October 11, 2023 12:33 PM

So r133 that's like saying She's in my country or That cunt has the best parties?

by Anonymousreply 134October 11, 2023 8:52 PM

[quote] I would fuck each and every one of them

I would let each and every one of them fuck me. Or cum inside me

by Anonymousreply 135October 11, 2023 8:54 PM

I never pledged a fraternity - I really wasn't interested in that sort of follow the leader sort of thing and had been burned by it in HS. But I did get invited to the Friday or Saturday TKE parties for most of my freshman year. Hooked up with a few TKEs and a few other attendees there.

The next year they were all different and weird so I didn't go back. But I can still remember some of those TKE boys from freshman year. Hot beefballs and farmboys. The definition of young, dumb and full of cum.

by Anonymousreply 136October 11, 2023 8:57 PM

R136 were you attractive too? Did they cum in your mouth?

by Anonymousreply 137October 11, 2023 9:30 PM

R136 I think I am, and was, pretty decent looking. And yes they did, most of them, anyway.

I always laugh when people say guys who are AI generated don’t look like real life frat boys.

I want to live in r141`s AI fraternity.
