I could have sworn Bruce was born in 1946, but Wiki says 1949. I guess he's been around too long for that not to be easily disputed. But I distinctly remember being in a doctor's office in very early 1996 and there being a cover story on how the "Baby Boomers" were turning 50, with certain celebrities being highlighted as doing the same. The two photos I recall clearly were Bette Midler (who had just turned 50) and Bruce Springsteen.

My mother never liked his music or cared for him but my stepdad was a fan and has his Born in the USA album. That era was inescapable in general.

I hated that entire era. Like you said, it was inescapable. Everywhere you looked he was there, his videos always in circulation and radio stations playing his songs on loop. His USA era was massive and that tour was huge. I got so sick of him and his songs, and fast.

How could I have forgotten about the absolute masterpiece that is Bruce's song "The River?" First time I heard this song it brought me to tears. Bruce is such a good storyteller.

I was a kid back then, and I agree with the posters who said that his songs got played so much it got kind of tiring. With the perspective of time, however, I can listen to all of his 80s songs without prejudice. He was and is an amazing talent.

Bruce has so many great songs and just to mention a few. Jungle Land, Rosalita, If I Should Fall Behind, Waitin’ On A Summer Day, Mary’s Place, Jersey Girl, Sherry Darling, Secret Garden, Let’s Be Friends (Skin to Skin), Bobby Jean, One Step Up, Something in the Night, No Surrender, Girls in Their Summer Clothes and so many more. Hopefully Bruce will reschedule his concerts that he canceled due to his health in my city. I have a feeling this could be his last tour.

Getting tickets to any of his shows is a logistical nightmare. It's primarily persistence and luck. My first Bruce concert was in 1978 Darkness tour at Madison Square Garden. I've seen him about 15 times between then and around 2002. But I was unable to see him on the Springsteen on Broadway run even though he had over 200 shows. Unless of course I was willing to pay over $2,000 a ticket. His recent tours were also impossible. I think the last time I saw him was 20 years ago. I would have liked to see him one last time, but it doesn't seem likely.

I saw Bruce twice, in concerts for his Darkness On he Edge Of Town and The River albums. Of course he played a lot more songs than just from those albums, from. His first two albums and a lot of covers. One concert was near Xmas and he did a lot of Xmas songs. But I didn’t like the songsBorn In he USA or Dancing In The Dark.
