He was a lousy GM, but I give him credit for being a staunch supporter of LGBTQ+ rights.

Every year, when Oracle Park had Pride Day, he was front and center praising the gay community and was always grateful for their support.

Firing a manager 3 games before the end of the season is unheard of. It's absolutely humiliating. They must have something on him. Some people think it's drugs, or he's been me-tooed. When he was hired by the Giants 4 years ago there was controversy because of his handling of a sexual assault incident by a Dodgers minor league player, or his lack of handling it.

His dismissal was expected, as a poster said he was a shit manager. Anytime baseball players make veiled references to a poor clubhouse culture you know it's much worse than they're saying..

Poor Gabe. I thought his managerial career tanked when he managed the Phillies and was unceremoniously dumped by the team and driven out of town by Philly's notoriously nasty fans.

R9 Full disclosure here. I work for the Giants. Everybody was speculating about what actually happened yesterday. Few of us expected that he'd be back next year, but nobody expected he'd be canned with just three games left in the season, and just before a game with the Dodgers, too! That's like rubbing salt in the wound.

Most people think there was something contentious or pretty damaging going on behind the scenes.

Interestingly, just a few months ago, former player Buster Posey just moved his family back to the Bay Area, so there's speculation he'll be the Giants' new GM in 2024.

Kapler was the manager, not the general manager. They’re two different jobs.

Thanks for that. I didn't even know there was such a thing. This apparently is something new. I've been posting images through imgbb for years and never noticed any of them getting removed until now.

Scratch that at R33. I looked and "don't autodelete" is the default when I use imgbb, but the images are still getting deleted within minutes. Maybe imgbb is having a glitch.
