Beloved celebrities you always suspected were creeps

I'm watching the Jimmy Savile documentary on Netflix and I don't get how no one could see this man was a pervert. He might as well have been shouting it from the rooftops. I suppose the American equivalent would be Bill Cosby. I never liked him, even as a child I could see there was something wrong with this guy. Maybe I'm just good at spotting perverts.

by Anonymousreply 189October 9, 2023 3:17 AM

Takes one to know one, doll.

by Anonymousreply 1September 30, 2023 12:41 AM

Michael Jackson. It was always clear there was something fundamentally wrong with him and the relationships with young boys.

by Anonymousreply 2September 30, 2023 12:41 AM

Charlie Rose wins this thread. Such a twit, and constantly interrupting his guests.

In 1995, I was a first-year associate at a Wall Street law firm and was at lunch with some fellow first-years. They were talking about Rose and I complained about him. They looked at me like I had just stabbed a toddler in the eye.

I feel so vindicated now.

by Anonymousreply 3September 30, 2023 12:48 AM

Not liking his constant interview interruptions is one thing. Sexually assaulting people - any people old or young, male or female - is a totally different thing. The two were not connected in your mind, you simply disliked Rose.

by Anonymousreply 4September 30, 2023 12:56 AM

I wouldn’t say he is beloved but there is something I do not like about Nick Kroll.

by Anonymousreply 5September 30, 2023 12:59 AM

[quote]Not liking his constant interview interruptions is one thing. Sexually assaulting people - any people old or young, male or female - is a totally different thing. The two were not connected in your mind, you simply disliked Rose.

Are you mentally retarded? Here’s the “assignment:”

[quote]Beloved celebrities you always suspected were creeps

by Anonymousreply 6September 30, 2023 1:02 AM

Robert Conrad gave me the creeps. He sensed him as cruel, unpredictable and violent.

by Anonymousreply 7September 30, 2023 1:12 AM

Yes R7, RC was indeed creepy. He was a closeted gay, or bi, and liked to rough up his blond twinks after sex. He also was rough with his wives, and according to his daughter, once beat up her mother. The guy was a walking mess of Catholic guilt and repressed homosexuality. If he hadn't been so good looking he probably would have ended up in prison somewhere.

by Anonymousreply 8September 30, 2023 1:14 AM

Muskrat. Before he outed himself as another vile, narcissistic prick.

I never liked him or got all the hype about how “smart” he allegedly was. He always came off as an arrogant, know it all creep.

by Anonymousreply 9September 30, 2023 1:16 AM

Bryan Cranston. no idea, I am convinced something is weird about that guy.

by Anonymousreply 10September 30, 2023 1:17 AM

My brother's a long-time friend of Cranston's. He's a decent guy, nothing "off" with him whatsoever.

by Anonymousreply 11September 30, 2023 1:20 AM

Over a decade ago I worked in the facility where Mr Rose taped his show. He was often around. My senior producer took the young pretty intern aside on her first day and told her, in no uncertain terms, to never let herself end up alone with him anywhere for any reason.

by Anonymousreply 12September 30, 2023 1:20 AM

Although he is the Patron Saint of straight white people, I've come to loathe Jon Stewart and it is clear to me at least that something is really off with him.

I'm right here...waiting.

by Anonymousreply 13September 30, 2023 2:35 AM

I went back to the room with a 70's crooner, mid 90's Honolulu........ He rolled my foreskin in his fingers & literally sang to it....... We were completely high. I left in the middle of the night & stole one of his shoes.....

by Anonymousreply 14September 30, 2023 6:10 AM

So in that scenario you were the creepy one R14.

by Anonymousreply 15September 30, 2023 6:54 AM

Robert Downey Jr

by Anonymousreply 16September 30, 2023 7:29 AM

R2, yes. I'm amazed at the people who still defend him. Perceptive people clocked him as a pedophile back in the 80s when he was "dating" Emmanuel Lewis

by Anonymousreply 17September 30, 2023 7:50 AM

Agreed R17. There's something very wrong with the uberfans who continue to defend Jackson's paedophilia and pretend in the face of so much overwhelming evidence - both in plain sight and behind closed doors. They're repulsive people. That includes the entire Jackson family who knew what was going on but didn't want to do anything to end or restrict their cash cow so they also pretended for money. Also all repulsive people.

by Anonymousreply 18September 30, 2023 7:55 AM

Bill Cosby.

I hate to say this- because I love her- I think she is a superlative actress and over the years she has become so likeable in interviews.

Nicole Kidman.

I believe every alleged word about her father- and when you go down that rabbit hole you can never look at things the same way. There is evil in this world.

Factor in Tom Cruise- and there is SOMETHING about her far deeper and darker than I want to admit.

by Anonymousreply 19September 30, 2023 12:22 PM

[R19] , this is all news to me. I did a quick google search and it appears most of the information surrounding NK’s father/family has been scrubbed, starting with Wikipedia. Care to elaborate?

by Anonymousreply 20September 30, 2023 2:55 PM

While I don't think she was a predator herself, I think Liz Taylor helped cover up for Michael Jackson. I remember her defending his "sleepovers" in the media. Barf.

by Anonymousreply 21September 30, 2023 5:53 PM

Liz was also good friends with pedo Malcolm Forbes.

by Anonymousreply 22September 30, 2023 7:16 PM

Was Malcolm Forbes a pedo? I never heard that

by Anonymousreply 23September 30, 2023 7:28 PM

Rep 14: could he have mistaken your dick for a microphone? Or maybe that's his modus operandi: "oh, I thought it was a microphone?"

by Anonymousreply 24September 30, 2023 8:12 PM

R23, I never heard that either. I think it's bullshit. Forbes was gay and closeted, not pedo that I've ever heard any stories about.

R22, your claim is being called out. Cite your sources for this claim or shut the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 25September 30, 2023 8:21 PM

KC, really r14? Cool! If so.

by Anonymousreply 26September 30, 2023 8:23 PM

Bob Sagat

by Anonymousreply 27September 30, 2023 8:33 PM

Stephen Colbert gives me the heebie-jeebies. You can tell me all you want about how he has all the right opinions, supports the right causes, etc, but I can't even stand to look at his face. That's how much he creeps me out. I can't put into words why, but then, that's the nature of creepiness. It's hard to explain.

by Anonymousreply 28September 30, 2023 8:54 PM

Judith Lowry

Denzel

by Anonymousreply 31September 30, 2023 9:31 PM

Anyone who dates teens when they are 30+ is creepy to me.

Paul Walker, Alan Thicke, Tom Poston.

I didn't suspect Paul but Alan and Tom always gave me the creeps.

by Anonymousreply 32September 30, 2023 9:39 PM

R32, don't forget Jerry Seinfeld

by Anonymousreply 33September 30, 2023 9:42 PM

R3 had to leap into the thread to brag about her preternatural wisdom that Rose was a guest interrupter, as if that had anything to do with his being revealed as a serial pussy chaser much later.

R3 needs to get some therapy and stop preening here.

by Anonymousreply 34September 30, 2023 9:48 PM

One understands how Trump was elected with the quality of people and their creep-dar on this thread.

by Anonymousreply 35September 30, 2023 10:01 PM

I don't know about "beloved," but David Copperfield gave me the creeps. We went to his show when I was a kid and he was giving out autographs afterward. Bad vibes.

Beyoncé

by Anonymousreply 38September 30, 2023 10:46 PM

You shut your whore mouth R29!

Mother Dexter was above reproach.

by Anonymousreply 39September 30, 2023 10:47 PM

R37 you don’t know your ass from a hole in the ground now, let alone when you were a kid.

by Anonymousreply 40September 30, 2023 11:15 PM

All magicians are fucking freaks and creepy as hell. ALL of them.

In the non-magician category I have Bing Crosby. Der Bingle, the Crooner, White Christmas and on and on but he creeped me out the minute I saw him onscreen and it never went away. Later it turned out he was a complete asshole to his family and to women.

Same thing with Jerry Lewis. Creeped me the fuck out in those telethons.

by Anonymousreply 41September 30, 2023 11:17 PM

R36- Yes. And I believe Fiona (Child Molestation and trafficking is beyond what anyone knows or realizes)

My friend was molested by her father.

Anyway. Yes, back pre 2019- there was alot more out there. Fiona is in hiding from what I hear.

I won't even go any further, but I know what's real.

Bryan Cranston is a PEACH. Give me a break with that one. One of the good ones.

by Anonymousreply 44September 30, 2023 11:33 PM

It’s gut busting hilarious seeing the posts by some here in this thread. Those without a grasp on reality making their fucked up assumptions on who’s a creep. Paleeze.

Two comments:

(1) A lot of boys will be boys type attitudes back in the day, or a bit of slack for someone considered to be creative and thus funny or "kooky." We're a bit smarter now.

(2) We have an exceptionally dumb populace, then and now, that wants to believe the best about a person they've decided to like or direct their fandom toward, and those people have no discernment or ability to objectively look at what's happening.

by Anonymousreply 49October 1, 2023 1:02 AM

Robert Downey Jr. does seem like an asshole. I've told this story on DL before. I used to work in a high-end chain hotel. RDJ came in with an all-male, twink entourage. Before RDJ even sat down, he was loud and barking out orders.

by Anonymousreply 50October 1, 2023 1:03 AM

Lucille Ball

by Anonymousreply 51October 1, 2023 1:05 AM

Britney Spears seems like an asshole. Yes, I realize she went through a lot, but she just seems like a mean girl. Yet everyone feels sorry for her. She's 40, now. When does it end.

My former roomie and friend of decades worked in showbiz, basically an assistant and a bit more and he said two guys hit on him twice, one was RDJ and the other was a very creepy Tony Danza.

by Anonymousreply 58October 1, 2023 1:25 AM

Two Johns.

Lithgow and Malkovich.

I acknowledge it might be the characters they've played and they may in fact be fine, kind souls. But nevertheless.....I've been creeped out from time to time.

Same with Willem Dafoe.

James Woods, of course, we KNOW is an asshole of the highest order (and thus not beloved, I guess) and has chased the barely legal types. So finding out he's broken the law in that regard would not be a surprise.

by Anonymousreply 59October 1, 2023 1:29 AM

R30 - yes and Dolly Parton is the answer.

by Anonymousreply 60October 1, 2023 1:30 AM

I love that Tony Danza got Clooney fired from that sitcom they did together in the early 90s after their fling ended. LOL.

by Anonymousreply 61October 1, 2023 1:30 AM

He's not beloved by anyone but the second I clapped eyes on Dustin Lance Black I knew he was a lecherous creep and he hasn't let me down.

by Anonymousreply 62October 1, 2023 1:33 AM

Henry Winkler. His nice-guy routine is a too over-the-top, and he talks in a weird, childlike voice around kids.

by Anonymousreply 63October 1, 2023 1:45 AM

If Tony Danza gave any indication he was interested in me, my mouth would be at the very hairy bottom of his shaft.

by Anonymousreply 64October 1, 2023 1:46 AM

r63- that man is a treasure, beloved by everyone who works with him.

by Anonymousreply 65October 1, 2023 1:46 AM

Clooney, Clooney and Clooney.

by Anonymousreply 66October 1, 2023 1:49 AM

NOT DOLLY.

No. No fucking way.

by Anonymousreply 67October 1, 2023 1:50 AM

I met Henry Winkler at a national conference which helped us educators better understand the needs of children with learning challenges. He was a sweet, gentle man. Very appreciative I was there. We started to chat when an official escorted him away for a press event.

I thought he was the hottest man ever as Fonzie. My teen-aged self would have had an unassisted orgasm just standing next to him. I nearly offered him a blow job, even at his elderly age.

by Anonymousreply 68October 1, 2023 1:52 AM

R67? Please for Christ's sake read stuff. This was the question:

"Is it possible to be a beloved celebrity and NOT be a creep?"

R60 is the answer to R30's question.

by Anonymousreply 69October 1, 2023 1:52 AM

[R63]- that man is a treasure, beloved by everyone who works with him.

Exactly.

by Anonymousreply 70October 1, 2023 1:57 AM

by Anonymousreply 72October 1, 2023 2:02 AM

I like Henry Winkler, but he does seem almost too good to be true.

by Anonymousreply 73October 1, 2023 2:05 AM

Robin Roberts. I mentioned her in a similar thread about two years ago. She gives off phony vibes. I’d love to be wrong about her but she seems fake af.

by Anonymousreply 74October 1, 2023 2:06 AM

Willem Dafoe is a sweetheart. He just looks like the Joker.

by Anonymousreply 75October 1, 2023 2:09 AM

Tom Hanks had Henry Winkler fired as the director of Turner and Hooch. What’s the story there?

by Anonymousreply 76October 1, 2023 2:23 AM

Tom Hanks is an asshole, I am guessing.

by Anonymousreply 77October 1, 2023 2:27 AM

Burt Reynolds

Weren't there rumors about him and the teen actor playing his son on Evening Shade?

by Anonymousreply 78October 1, 2023 2:30 AM

Fucked-up? Sure. An asshole? Perhaps. Creepy? No.

by Anonymousreply 80October 1, 2023 2:31 AM

What rumors?

That son is/was Jay R Ferguson, wasn't he? Who went on to play Rizzo on Mad Men and is now doing perhaps the most challenging acting job in history - making us believe Darlene Conner is straight on the Conners.

by Anonymousreply 84October 1, 2023 3:37 AM

Ferguson and Reynolds had a fist fight on the set of Evening Shade. Rumor had it that Burt was into beefy football player types like Jay Ferguson.

by Anonymousreply 85October 1, 2023 3:50 AM

Game show hosts Gene Rayburn and Richard Dawson.

by Anonymousreply 109October 1, 2023 4:26 PM

I’d rather see Tom Hanks paired with Winkler as a serial killer duo because Cranston already immortalized his dark side as Walter White. But I hear that Hanks and Winkler hate each other? You can save the Netflix series with Hanks and Winkler as retired serial killers that hate each other. Some copycat killers happen, and they begrudgingly either figure out the murderer(s) together or with the FBI, trying to sabotage the other. It could be a black comedy like Barry.

People don't seem to understand that everyone is perfectly free to say whatever they'd like using whatever words they choose and that forcing their personal views on someone else is abhorrent to decent people.

Whoever is forcing you to speak and write against your will should be brought up on charges.

He just seemed to have a tremendous amount of poorly controlled hostility and a need to control situations. It also was evident when he did daytime--everyone else was chirpy, except him. Tavis Smiley--another pervy interviewer had a similar way of presenting himself.

Bourdain, while intelligent and som humorous had a certain smugness about his character. He came across this way to me more than once. A lot of celebrity chefs are like that. Even food vloggers are. I couldn’t stand the show THE BEST THING I EVER ATE because of the obnoxious hipster foodies bragging about their favorite foods and restaurants that only they knew about. The only one who wasn’t like that was Ben Sargeant. Very down to earth and explained why foods tasted like they did. He was hot.

by Anonymousreply 140October 2, 2023 3:27 PM

SOMEWHAT humorous…damned iPad Air!

by Anonymousreply 141October 2, 2023 3:36 PM

Every time Charlie Rose opened his mouth and said something that wasn’t obviously scripted, it was CRINGE.

It never failed to amaze me that he was seen as some sort of Dick Cavett type in the 90s. I was like, REALLY, world?

So it came as no surprise ….

Charlie Rose was one of the few would-be rapists out of "me too" who came as a complete surprise to me. I suppose I simply never saw him in a sexual way and it never occurred to me that he was harassing women.

by Anonymousreply 143October 2, 2023 9:29 PM

I think Oprah is a creep. Something's off... she is vile to her staffers. Harpo Productions had a code for when she was in the bldg.

Howard Stern is very obviously a creep. Why anyone pays to listen to his drivel, who knows. He's been ogling women on the air and on TV for years, why would they think otherwise?

by Anonymousreply 144October 2, 2023 9:38 PM

I've always found Oprah super creepy.

I'm somehow certain she's an awful person.

by Anonymousreply 145October 2, 2023 9:40 PM

Cheryl Crane. Not sure how beloved she is but we were supposed to empathize with her for being a child when she stabbed her mother's lover. However I saw an interview with her where she was selling herself as the victim despite the fact that Johnny S was killed. She also came across as dumb as a brick wall.

by Anonymousreply 146October 2, 2023 9:45 PM

This is an old one but back in the 1980s, before it became known that the late William Hurt was an abusive asshole, I sensed that something was off.

by Anonymousreply 147October 2, 2023 9:46 PM

I keep waiting for something pervy to come out about Bill Nye the Science Guy. Hopefully it's consensual

by Anonymousreply 148October 2, 2023 9:49 PM

For a reasonably talented, good-looking actor, William Hurt managed to kill off his career a long time before he died. I suspect others were aware of him being a jerk.

by Anonymousreply 149October 2, 2023 9:52 PM

Bill Hurt was an asshole who had the most beautiful manners you'd ever hope to see. They were impeccable, really impeccable. Perhaps that perfection was its own clue to his hidden dickishness.

Didn't our own G have to go around and apologize for bringing Hurt into that cop show she did? Apparently he was a huge cunt and G was totally embarrassed. Everyone blamed her for suggesting him. I guess it had been a long time since The Big Chill.

by Anonymousreply 150October 2, 2023 10:05 PM

R146, she killed him in self-defense. She's also not "beloved" by any stretch of the imagination

by Anonymousreply 151October 2, 2023 10:26 PM

Madonna. It's been obvious for a while now that she's completely lost the plot but she used to project such an strong in control image that I don't recognize this woman they call Madonna today. What the hell happened to her seriously? I also think she adopted those African kids for nefarious purposes. I've rumors she's involved on some kind of child trafficking scheme.

by Anonymousreply 152October 2, 2023 11:32 PM

What rumors? The ones that exist in the minds of QAnon followers?

Madonna may be a druggie and a plastic surgery nightmare but she's not trafficking kids

by Anonymousreply 153October 2, 2023 11:39 PM

William Hurt literally had a juicy role in Goliath and was recurring in the Marvel films the years before he died. Considering his age and his illness, he was hardly persona non grata.

by Anonymousreply 154October 2, 2023 11:57 PM

I provided a link for R153 to show I didn't pull this out of my ass. And I'm not QAnon you retard I was simply contributing to the topic along with everyone else about my feelings about a celebrity. It has nothing to do with political beliefs you exhausting cunt. Get over yourself.

Tyler Perry.

by Anonymousreply 156October 3, 2023 12:11 AM

R154, but..but...he hadn't had over the title billing in years...he was a big star in the 1980s, he was not at all by the end of the 1990s...

by Anonymousreply 157October 3, 2023 12:25 AM

[quote]I keep waiting for something pervy to come out about Bill Nye the Science Guy. Hopefully it's consensual.

I know someone who went to a live taping of Nye’s show who claims that he was a temperamental jerk to his crew, but I’m not too surprised. I think these assholes and perverts who behave overly nice and wholesome in public are dangerous in private because they compartmentalize their good and bad traits, so when they are bad, they are horrid.

by Anonymousreply 158October 3, 2023 12:47 AM

[quote] William Hurt literally had a juicy role in Goliath

Oh dear.

by Anonymousreply 159October 3, 2023 1:15 AM

Passing along secondhand info is rarely a good idea, r158, especially if you aren't sure of the truth of it.

I've worked with Nye a few times. He was a hoot and a really nice guy on each occasion. Maybe he was having a bad day, or the "someone" you knew misread the situation.

by Anonymousreply 160October 3, 2023 1:24 AM

Allen Funt

by Anonymousreply 161October 3, 2023 1:28 AM

Great r158. Now you’ll tell me that Neil deGrasse Tyson is a primadonna…

by Anonymousreply 162October 3, 2023 1:40 AM

I never liked James Franco. Something always felt very “off” about him.

by Anonymousreply 163October 3, 2023 1:56 AM

Ellen derived way too much pleasure from seeing people humiliated on "Game of Games". If they splatted hard into a pool of nasty food, she should barely contain herself. She was even more excited if it happened to the same person two or three times. She enjoyed pressing buttons that might hurt the contestants. I thought it was sadistic. She was way too happy about it.

by Anonymousreply 164October 3, 2023 2:22 AM

I know someone who worked at Rolling Stone back in the day, and he said he was NOT surprised to hear about the racist and sexist comments that Jann Wenner made

by Anonymousreply 165October 3, 2023 2:28 AM

R147 Wm Hurt always gave me the creeps too. I couldn’t explain it as he was pretty bland looking.

by Anonymousreply 166October 3, 2023 2:28 AM

Clint Eastwood

by Anonymousreply 167October 3, 2023 3:02 AM

Clint was terrible to Sondra Locke

by Anonymousreply 168October 3, 2023 3:20 AM

Maybe Crispin Glover was right about Steven Spielberg.

by Anonymousreply 169October 3, 2023 3:21 AM

R152, I loathe and despise Madge and always have. I think her adoption of all of those children is insane and should not have been allowed. Further, these days she's clearly off her face on drugs most of the time.

"The Source" seems pretty dubious as a publication. The big "sex" complaint against Madge is that David Banda is crossdressing. And really, who the fuck cares about that? Controlling assholes who hate all of us, that's who.

Unless adopting those four kids and requiring them to make an appointment to see her is what they're going after her for, I don't have five minutes for this bullshit. Madge is far too focused on herself and her drugs and her endless drama to be child trafficking and all that mess.

by Anonymousreply 170October 3, 2023 5:11 AM

Meryl Streep. There’s something about her that I cannot stand.

by Anonymousreply 171October 3, 2023 6:15 AM

Garth Brooks. The way he cruelly dumped the first wife who supported him, to hook up with Trisha Yearwood. And the Chris Gaines thing....so weird.

by Anonymousreply 172October 3, 2023 11:44 AM

[quote]Meryl Streep. There’s something about her that I cannot stand.

Maybe, who knows, but I've waited on and served her a bunch of times and she was always very charming and polite.

by Anonymousreply 173October 3, 2023 3:25 PM

R171, I will cut you.

by Anonymousreply 174October 3, 2023 8:08 PM

Stephen Fry

by Anonymousreply 175October 3, 2023 10:40 PM

Look at the publicists who’ve jumped into this thread like yapping terriers, defending their creepy clients. Hi there, CAA, UTA.

by Anonymousreply 176October 4, 2023 12:40 AM

I'm fairly certain you're wrong about that, R176.

It's not that I'd put it past them, they do that sometimes but this doesn't rise to the level. Some will show up for the Tay-tay Swift thread.

by Anonymousreply 177October 4, 2023 12:47 AM

DICK VAN DYKE.

by Anonymousreply 178October 4, 2023 2:11 PM

Don’t forget Julie Andrews. Serial killer vibes.

by Anonymousreply 179October 4, 2023 3:11 PM

Never bought the Tom Hanks Mr Nice Guy image.

And he pissed me off when he interjected himself into a situation at an awards show. One of those shows where attendees sat around tables.

Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis were being honored and were making their way through the other tables toward the stage. As RD headed toward the stage with OD following, up pops Hanks who then links his arm with RD to "escort" her to the stage with OD trailing behind.

In no way was Hanks to be a part of this honor. But somehow, there HE was onstage, making himself a part of an honor that was supposed to be all about Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis.

Tom Hanks is a jerk.

by Anonymousreply 180October 4, 2023 3:16 PM

R180 that sounds so self serving of Hanks.

by Anonymousreply 181October 4, 2023 3:45 PM

Richard Dawson is a no-brainer.

by Anonymousreply 182October 5, 2023 1:45 AM

R173 politeness doesn’t make her a non creep. Her saying she didn’t know about Harvey Weinstein is sus.

by Anonymousreply 183October 5, 2023 5:42 AM

Ashton Kutcher

Henry Cavill

by Anonymousreply 184October 5, 2023 5:59 AM

Rachel Maddow. Her ego and MSNBC catering to her whims. That network should have said bye bye when she went to one day a week, or at least compromised to make her work Tue-Thu. Her MSNBC colleagues have to resent her. She's also become smug, and insufferable.

by Anonymousreply 185October 5, 2023 8:31 AM

Meh, R185, Maddow remains a national treasure and MSNBC is lucky to have her. She could leave and take over any of the Sunday talking heads shows if she wanted to.

R173, if I knew all about Harvey when I am not even in the business, I guarantee that everyone who works in that industry knew it sooner. Streep and anyone else who says they didn't know about him are lying sacks. Everyone fucking knew, he was just too powerful to cross.

by Anonymousreply 186October 9, 2023 2:28 AM

HI RACHEL!

by Anonymousreply 187October 9, 2023 2:39 AM

Bless you, R187, I only wish I had her brainpower.

by Anonymousreply 188October 9, 2023 2:49 AM

"Creepy' and "smug and annoying" are not the same thing, R185.
