In the nursery rhyme "It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring—he bumped his head and went to bed and didn't get up 'til the morning," is the implication that he suffered a major concussion?

Good heavens it's been pouring for hours. I hope it stops soon so I can get to Dunkin Donuts. It's National Coffee Day!

I just read this: "Among the lower 48 states, New York's highest ranking is #2 for storm risk."
Meanwhile, I live in AZ, which ranks #1 in the country for flood risk and #7 for drought risk. I'm in Phoenix, and this summer was a nightmare -- 100° temperatures starting in May. It is now late September, and we are still getting 100° forecasts.
Mother Nature is pissed; we are all screwed.

My parents live in Phoenix, R9. They were miserable during all those weeks of 107ish+ weather, but are fine now. I don't think most Arizonans are stressed out by a mere 100 degrees, as crazy as that sounds. Plus, now that the days are shorter, the low is significantly lower than during that awful long stretch this summer, when overnight lows were still in the 90s.

This is the only thread? One of the terminals at LGA is flooded.

I need 7 inches of more!

It’s on Terminal A —big deal

The city is a mess today. Many subway lines are not running or are only running part of their route.

I heard on the radio about an hour ago that some isolated parts of the NYC metropolitan area could receive as much as 12 inches of rain from this storm!

NYC-er here. Made the mistake of trying to drive to an appointment today. Got stuck in traffic due to MANY flooded streets. Spent 2 ½ hours getting only 5 miles from my home. But… I was safe and dry in my car. Better off than many.

God is pissed that " Some Like It Hot" is closing.

Why doesn't LGA Terminal A matter?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 29, 2023 5:30 PM |
R19 because it accounts for barely 10% of passenger traffic. Because it is the only un-renovated part of LGA. Because the entire airport was subject to a ground stop, so there was no reason to be there.
Any other questions?
