Poles are starting to turn away from the Catholic faith

According to the Main Polish Statistical Office (GUS), the percentage of people who declared believing in Catholic faith in the national census fell from 89.77% in 2011 to 71.30% in 2021.

That would mean, more than 7 million of Polish people during the span of 10 years decided to not put the Catholic faith in their national census response.

That would be the biggest change since the Catholic downfall in Ireland.

Maybe they just couldn't figure out how to fill the thing out.

Good. The more than dump the Catholic faith the better off the world will eventually be.

Amid Scandals and Politics, Poland’s Youths Lose Faith in Catholic Church

The Polish church is in a deep crisis, as its authority is sapped by cascading sexual abuse scandals and as more people grow wary of its perceived alliance with the country’s right-wing government.

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland — A committed Catholic who served from childhood as an altar boy, Karol dreamed as a teenager of entering the seminary in his hometown in northern Poland and becoming a priest.

“I had a deep faith and wanted to serve the church,” said Karol, now 26, recalling how he had discussed his hopes of one day becoming a bishop with his spiritual mentor, a priest at the Church of Divine Providence in the city of Bydgoszcz.

But that was before the priest raped him.

Pope Saint John Paul II (aka Karol Józef Wojtyła) must be turning over in his grave.

One of the most ardently Catholic places in Europe. Oh, well, it had a good run

I used to work with a lot of Poles at a NYC based Hotel chain. Almost all of them came over here before the fall of communism.

Some observations-

Most had gotten to the West the same way. As observant Catholics, their govt. allowed them to travel to Italy to visit the Vatican. Once there, they never returned to Poland. Instead, they'd claim asylum and then received assistance from Refugee Aid organizations in immigrating to another Western country.

The Catholic brainwashing is strong. I worked directly with a very nice older Polish woman who'd lived for decades with another Polish woman who also worked for this hotel chain. They resided together in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Everyone knew they were a lesbian couple but it was never discussed. However, this woman was also a very devout Catholic.

A guy I supervised while there, Marek, I ended up getting to know quite well and we'd hang out together even outside of work. I made the mistake of mentioning Lech Walesa as he was in the news at that moment after being elected President. I thought he was universally liked but boy was I wrong. Marek said he was an uneducated buffoon, who often made mistakes when he spoke Polish, an embarrassment to the county.

Don't celebrate this too soon. Without Polish Catholics troops the Muslims would have overrun at least half of Europe. The way the EU is going they might need to do it again.

And Spain before that. Poland really is the last bastion of Catholicism in Europe. (I'm not counting Italy because they have their own special dynamic of resisting the RCC's influence, stemming from all sorts of different cultural reasons that don't exist in Poland.) After this bastion "falls", Europe will look quite a bit different and the Vatican will quickly shift most of its attention to the Global South, which will only further accelerate its decline in Europe.

We'll see what happens in their general election two weeks from now.

Maybe some of them are dying and not being replaced?

(And the Ukrainians mentioned in this article that are coming in (if religious) would probably be Orthodox as opposed to Roman Catholic.)

Why do you think that the RCs have been concentrating most of their interest and energy in Africa and South America for the past 30 + years ; they might be evil, but not all of them are stupid. They recognized Europe and N America as lost causes many years ago.
