Count me in. I am totally exhausted and never seem to get beyond the tip of the iceberg each day. I suppose at some point the rest of the iceberg will come back and bite me in the ass and I'll get fired. I feel like I am punched because I am fast and know my job well, so the expectation is that I will get it done. I almost feel it would be a blessing if they did fire me!

If you can switch to part time working or to a less demanding job/role, it definitely can be worth it unless having more money is very important.

Me too, OP. Just knackered with the daily grind. I really like the people I work with, and the company isn’t bad, but I work in a fairly unimportant area of the company, and the chance of advancement is nil.

I’m in my forties, and recently found out that my health isn’t great, it’s made me think I may need to change. I don’t want to slave away and save all my fun for retirement years that I might not live to see. I’m thinking of how I can reduce my hours. It seems like an urgent matter!

OP my feelings exactly...I work in government we have totally discontinued remote work long ago. Its such a hassle doing 5 days a week in the office, after feeling the relief that telework and modified work schedules brought during the pandemic. In addition to dealing with people at work, constant pressure, etc. I wish I could be out there with the autoworkers, even they will get four day work weeks soon

I would love to telework again. My job is … a job … but many of the people there annoy the crap out of me. My boss also has no regard for anyone’s time but his own.

I had this discussion with my boss today about how burned out I am, he admitted he is too. So much shit going on at work now.

Of all the options we had for humanity this working and grinding is what we came up with?! It blows my mind given the over abundance of resources to sustain humanity in simpler more natural ways. I hate it here.

It’s a grind, OP, and my commute is a 45-minute bitch (it could be a 30-minute commute, but in Wisconsin we have seemingly constant construction so freeway is a mess right now). I’m hoping to check out of full-time work in 11.5 years. I’m 53 and will be 54 in a few months. I’m just so tired.

Once retired, I’ll probably work part time doing something enjoyable, like sorting at a thrift shop or working with plants or animals.

I’m still in bed this morning at 10:30am

It’s 3.40pm here and I just awoke from having a mid-afternoon snooze.
