Nothing new under the sun. I remember a lot of fundamentalist churches doing this during the Satanic panic years. Hell, I remember churches doing this when I was teenager and they were encouraging kids to bring their secular albums and cassettes to bonfires.

Having worked 80% of my working life in academic and special libraries, most senior librarians, tenured academic librarians, and deans of libraries don't do jack shit for anyone or anything other than themselves and their confreres. They stir up unnecessary drama and fight so fucking hard for such tiny stakes, they have no time to give to the current clusterfuck of academic, literary, and library freedom.
