Levi’s Cords

In 1979 I was in seventh grade and we all wore Levi’s cords. They came in many colors cans were what everyone wore—both males and females.

Do they still make these? I’d love to find them again.

by Anonymousreply 30September 28, 2023 5:29 PM

God, I forgot about those. At this age, shouldn't you be looking for adult pants?

by Anonymousreply 1September 28, 2023 12:22 PM

Honey, you're not 12 years old. You'll never be 12 years old again.

by Anonymousreply 2September 28, 2023 12:36 PM

You can wear them with Keds!

by Anonymousreply 3September 28, 2023 12:45 PM

Anyone know where I can find some sued Earth Shoes?

by Anonymousreply 4September 28, 2023 12:52 PM

“ I’d love to find them again.”

OP at 56 yrs old, what would you do if you found them?

by Anonymousreply 5September 28, 2023 12:53 PM

Fun Fact, Fraus at that time didnt have an affair with Yankee Candles, it was all about macrame plant hangers. The more the better.

by Anonymousreply 6September 28, 2023 12:55 PM

I’m surprised they haven’t made a comeback sometime along the line, since everything eventually does.

by Anonymousreply 7September 28, 2023 12:59 PM

Sometimes dead is better.

by Anonymousreply 8September 28, 2023 1:01 PM

A Qiana shirt and mood ring would really complete the ensemble.

by Anonymousreply 9September 28, 2023 1:02 PM

I still remember a pair of red cords I had in middle school. God help me.

As for today, I'm not sure where you can find them, but I agree with OP that they are fun and in the right color can add a nice bit of texture to your outfit.

Just stay away from the red ones. Trust me on this. 😉

by Anonymousreply 11September 28, 2023 1:09 PM

I remember wearing them to school in the early to mid-70s. I'm sure they also had Lee and Wrangler cords? They were "boot cut" meaning moderately bell-bottomed. We usually had chunky heels on our shoes or boots. Never wore sneakers to school.

I remember wearing cords when was I was in elementary school in the 1960s (especially since jeans were not worn to school). But also pants that were like blue jeans but came in colors like brown, tan, red, etc. We used to wear them short, way above the ankle - that was a hugely popular thing at the time. I think you can see the Beach Boys wearing their pants like that. With somewhat pointy, lace-up Thom McAn shoes.

Excuse the walk down memory lane...

I totally agree with you R12 but most posters on Datalounge have never heard of Google. This is proven over and over.

by Anonymousreply 16September 28, 2023 2:27 PM

They made a swishing sound when you walked.

by Anonymousreply 17September 28, 2023 2:34 PM

Especially if you swished.

by Anonymousreply 18September 28, 2023 2:35 PM

I remember mine made swishing sounds cause my fat thighs pressed together.

by Anonymousreply 19September 28, 2023 2:39 PM

That was not your pants making that sound R17.

by Anonymousreply 20September 28, 2023 4:01 PM

Get them and wear them with your Dingo boots.

by Anonymousreply 21September 28, 2023 4:08 PM

They've made a comeback at least once in the last 20 or so years. Some DLers not only don't use Google but they also don't notice what's around them.

by Anonymousreply 22September 28, 2023 4:11 PM

I was styling in my tan cords and light blue button up shirt.

I remember cords being popular with some of my high school teachers back in the day.

by Anonymousreply 23September 28, 2023 4:21 PM

R22 Maybe where we are it wasn't around us.

by Anonymousreply 24September 28, 2023 4:22 PM

Have you ever heard of Amazon, OP?

by Anonymousreply 25September 28, 2023 4:56 PM

memo to the nursing home - corduroys have been acceptable for adult men to wear as pants for well more than a decade now.

by Anonymousreply 26September 28, 2023 5:01 PM

Funnily enough there are some great chords in Skate shops. Maybe not Levi brand but Thrift shops have some classic ones now and then.

by Anonymousreply 27September 28, 2023 5:09 PM

I never knew they were out, especially after Labor Day up to May.

by Anonymousreply 28September 28, 2023 5:13 PM

I used to buy the very light tan ones at the Gap at 73rd and Broadway. 29/30 IIRC.

by Anonymousreply 29September 28, 2023 5:20 PM

R22 is correct, I remember them in the late 90s/early 00s
