Fall/Winter movie season

Yes for all of those except "The Holdovers" which looks awful.

Payne's last few have either been clunkers (The Descendants, Downsizing) or bores (Nebraska).

Election and About Schmidt are great. What happened?

Strong showing for Napoleon.

Ridley Scott never disappoints me.

I had never heard of The Holdovers, but I just voted for it.

Looks great. My favorite Payne movie, by far, is Citizen Ruth.

Doesn't David Fincher have a movie coming out as well.

I think Jeffrey Wright is wonderful so I’m looking forward to “American Fiction”. The trailer for “Poor Things” is way over the top (steampunk, ick) but the festival word is Emma Stone is outstanding.

Also looking forward to “May December” based on the Letorneau scandal. The Film Comment podcast gave it a very good review and has an insightful interview with Haynes.

The new trailer for Napoleon dropped yesterday. It looks like Ridley is playing a lot of the same cards he played in Gladiator.

I'd say Napoleon, just because I love a good costume drama, but Phoenix looks a bit low energy to be Emperor of Anything, but I guess we'll see.

Side note: I just saw the trailer for Boys In the Boat & it looks like a predictable schlockfest - boy American Depression guys vs. Hitler: guess who wins!!
