Cassidy Hutchinson's new book "Enough" should really be titled "Too Much"
On top of all the indignities suffered in Trump's White House, she got groped by Giuliani. EEWđ¤˘đ¤Ž Of course, Rudy is threatening to sue her for defamation. Can you imagine the discovery phase?
[QUOTE] Describing the backstage scene at Trumpâs speech, she writes: âI find Rudy in the back of the tent with, among others, John Eastman. The corners of his mouth split into a Cheshire cat smile. Waving a stack of documents, he moves towards me, like a wolf closing in on its prey.
[QUOTE] We have the evidence. Itâs all here. Weâre going to pull this off.â Rudy wraps one arm around my body, closing the space that was separating us. I feel his stack of documents press into the small of my back. I lower my eyes and watch his free hand reach for the hem of my blazer.
[QUOTE] "'By the way,â he says, fingering the fabric, âIâm loving this leather jacket on you.â His hand slips under my blazer, then my skirt.â
[QUOTE] I feel his frozen fingers trail up my thigh. He tilts his chin up. The whites of his eyes look jaundiced. My eyes dart to John Eastman, who flashes a leering grin. I fight against the tension in my muscles and recoil from Rudyâs grip⌠filled with rage, I storm through the tent, on yet another quest for Mark.â

I am glad that more nasty, gross details are coming out. I hope that they are all true and Cassidy didn't leave herself open for being wholly discredited a la Dan Rather with Memogate. And assuming they ARE true, I'm sad and horrified that Cassidy and most likely other women had to endure this kind of treatment, I am curious just how surprised they were when it happened though.
Is it too much, OP? Perhaps, but it needs to be said. However your thread title really made me chuckle.

Don't tell me they don't know what they're getting into or who they're supporting. They've been in Republican camps long enough to know the behavior and ideology of their party.
If it weren't for LIBERALS fighting for women's rights and against sexual harassment, she wouldn't have any grounds or even be there in the first place.

Why the fuck didn't she punch the motherfucker in the face when he put his slimy hands on her? Furthermore, why the fuck has no father/husband/brother/ boyfriend ever beat the shit out of Trump. Epstein went after wounded children but Trump has raped women while their husband's backs were turned. He went after Ivank's friends, the teenage beauty contestants, hundreds of women. Why has no one ever punched him in the face? I think, republicans like rape and rapists, like real men, not wimpy soy boys. Not that republican women enjoy rape but it certainly seems that they consider it one hundred percent forgivable/slightly admirable.

Didn't see the full interview but really thought Cassidy came off well, so self-possessed, in the clip at r45. Did Rachel ask her if she could still support any Repug candidates? I'd be disappointed if Rachel didn't and if Cassidy said she could. Nevertheless, I think we can all be grateful for Cassidy's bravery in coming through during the 1/6 hearings, what an enormous difference she made. And it sounds like a lot of the new allegations in her book will only reinforce all that.
Anyway, hopefully the question will come up in later interviews.

She seems to be a female equivalent of the "best little boy" gay personality. A Horatio Alger type - young man from the provinces. A genuine bootstrapper. She's very measured because she's faking it until she makes it and she's not that intelligent and not that well educated but she's not dumb. She has read books and paid attention in college. Unfortunately, she was born with the REFUG mind set. Is she also "Christian"? There is a bumbling and naive hopefulness and do-gooder ethics sustaining her faith that it just takes some good people in "her part" of the GOP to turn things around. To put things right and good for America. blah blah blah blah.

She's probably a Liz Cheney-Republican. She thinks it's all just a phase and the minute Donald Trump is out, everything will fall back into place. Unfortunately that's not the case: Trump is just a symptom and when he's gone, other authoritarians Ă la DeSantis (except DeSantis himself because Mr. Governor sure is toast) are going to come out. Basically today the GOP is MAGA is the GQP. That GOP cannot stop running even further to the right where being cruel, racist, sexist, homophobic, fascist, anti-American, and pro-Russia is virtue signaling for the base.

After Meadowsâ office became smoky before a meeting, former GOP Rep. I don't think a lot of people realize the hell that MAGAts gleefully inflict. Constant threats of violence and death, endless doxxing and other harassment, going after family members and friends. There's a reason Mitt Romney pays nearly $2 million a year on security for him and his family following his vote to impeach Trump.
As Juliette Kayyem wrote in the Atlantic:
"Trump's real, enduring legacy is his successful introduction of violence, the threat of violence, and targeted harassment into the dynamics of our political system, as if they were just a natural extension of democratic disagreement."

I just downloaded it from the local library. Iâm surprised that it wasnât waitlisted. I live in a very blue region of a purple state and have usually waited for at least six months for this type of book, granted those were audio books for boring commutes. This is the book.
Anyway. Iâve finished the opening chapters re her growing up in New Jersey. She had help with the writing but itâs not very well written. Itâs not -bad- just that I canât get a real sense of what her life was like. Her family moved a lot, her father mistrusted the government and doctors, was domineering and told her she needed to be a âwarriorâ. Her mother held the family together and eventually divorced him. Her auntâs husband was a policeman and then in the military and seems like he was the real inspiration for her ambition. So far she knows she wants to work âfor the government in DCâ because itâs her âpatriotic dutyâ but thereâs no mention of helping people. Just that itâs patriotic to work for the government.

Well, in fairness to her, sheâs described herself as a âReagan Republicanâ and compared herself to Mitt Romneyâs conservatism. So sheâs basically a Never Trumper, though they are not a monolith and not all Never Trumpers pine for the days of Ronald Reagan. Theyâre a disingenuous sort. They canât quite admit how it was decades of the GOP machinations that lead to Trump and that their party was an empty shell ready for takeover by someone like Trump.
Sheâs like a âtraditionalâ Conservative. Not MAGA. But how she can align herself with even a non-existent, defunct party is beyond me. And why she then choose Maddow over even something like PBS News Hour or even 60 Minutes, doesnât make a lot of political sense. She sort of treated Maddow like a fellow conservative with all her âitâs an honour to be hereâ remarks.
I donât really understand how someone with her background could be any brand of Conservative.

No matter what, she is young and was corageous to come out like she did because she knew what was going on in the inside and how it would affect her once she came out. She's a Jersey girl so I can assume she was raised with some decent ethics. She may not have been able to tell in the early days what was going on because she was too close to it but of all of them this is the one I give the most credit to. Rachel read it but didn't ask her about it.

For those who read the book, a review of the book treated in typical snarky datalounge tone would be greatly appreciated: you know, something with sex, amorality, betrayals, sex, Lindseybelles, pussies smeared with orange makeup, brown noses, ketchup ballistics, sex. Oh but reviewers... With lovely shoes.

In all of the TV interviews I've seen, Cassidy adoringly credited her co-writer Mark Salter, saying she never could have written the book without him and that he literally pulled her story out of her (I'm paraphrasing!). She's coming off extremely well. I was a huge admirer and now even more so.
She is very clearly still learning and evolving and her candid honesty is so refreshing.

Iâm now at the part where she is working in the OLA as a liaison between the House, Senate, and the White House. She started right after graduation in 2017 and sheâd been interning every summer. Itâs a networking kind of position and she was good at it, made a point of knowing everyoneâs names, background, birthdays, kids names. Lots of emails to Republicans with talking points. Worked long hours.
But itâs weird. Sheâs already been through Trumpâs first impeachment. She disagreed because it was âjust politicsâ to hold up Ukrainian aid and hindsight alert! It trivialized the impeachment process for future presidents. iDespite being so involved in day to day legislation, she doesnât voice much opinion on it. Itâs like the process is the most important thing. Itâs strangely detached. Iâm not even a quarter of the way through and itâs early 2020.

âIâm not surprised at all. Matt is an unserious politician, and thatâs something that a lot of House Republicans and frankly House Democrats have recognized for a very long time. Matt is in office for himself. Matt is more concerned about getting sound bites and about making an image for himself than he is about passing effective policy,â Hutchinson said. âWe see that with whatâs playing out on the Hill right now. He is single-handedly uprooting the Republican Party, which is already hanging on by a thread. And this is just â itâs a symptom of the greater problem with the Republican Party right now too. We need to focus on electing effective leaders to Congress, and not people like Matt Gaetz who are willing to hold government funding hostage because of a personal qualm he has with the Speaker of the House.â

She's probably earned peace of mind knowing she can pay off her debts to lawyers and have a nice little pile of cash to help kick start a new phase of her life and, hopefully, put her in a position that will allow her to grow and evolve. She's not too far removed from the mundfuck that is the MAGAt movement and Trump's White House. It takes time for people to understand and gain insight when in environments organized around a sociopathic narcissist. She seems like a good candidate for therapy, especially with the father issues
