Women in the workplace, it made it much worse than it ever was before. In the past people actually meant what they said most of the time. Now it truly is fake.

Why not be cordial to your coworkers and greet them, once, in the morning?
I'd rather deal with this kind of cheerful veneer than deal someone who is bitchy and bringing their drama to the workplace.
That said, there is some middle ground.

I'm with R3. Just say "Fine, thanks" (even if you don't mean it) and keep moving. You don't have to be, or pretend to be, their new best friend. Cordiality is social lubricant.
