Bike color opinions
Hello! I'm thinking of purchasing this bike and was wondering what other gays thought of the color?
It's called "iced coffee brown" and on the Gazelle website it's called "stone brown".
In certain lights it can look goldish bronze. Is it too gay? It's a men's bike.

Thanks for your opinions if you have any. At least it isn't grey. I'm tired of grey.

I see them in blue which I like.

I think it is a beautiful color OP.
What's gay about it?

That’s the most un-gay bike I’ve ever seen, OP. Do you mean “gay” in 1800s sense? If so, you have chosen a very austere velocipede, my dear fellow.

I would get the electric if there are any hills involved in your journeys.

It has a seat, so it’s not gay enough for me.

R3/Joey - the blue doesn't come in the men's high step/cross bar or even that model unfortunately - only the ladies bikes. I know you like blue.
R4 - thank you very much for your kind words! I guess I thought it was a bit gold looking and a bit too shiny and gaudy for my liking but frankly I'm being silly. I'm buying it now.
R5 - I had to Google velocipede and I've learned a new word thank you! Yes you're right, I was being silly because I thought I might look like a whore or something... I knew someone would tell me if it was too gaudy.
I love you R7. I'll post a pic without the seat once it's arrived just for you.
Thank you all for your opinions. Much appreciated and I feel it has the DL stamp of approval now.
The next step is to have it shipped from Holland to Australia! Hopefully it will arrive by Xmas.

Sorry R6 I forgot to respond to you - I thought about it but I just want the non-electric version. Where I live is a flat as Holland (flat as a pancake).

Don’t ride the wrong color. Will Smith will slap you.

Sturdy little bike of Dutch make, the masters of bicycles. Can't go wrong, OP. Wishing you many wonderful trips.
And please refer to my country as "The Netherlands", unless you are 94 years old.

I’m thinking of purchasing this bike, but it’s a little too butch for me. Any tips on how to gay it up?

Yes no need for electric in flat cities. Many happy memories biking around flat European cities with safe bike lanes.

Thanks R11. I would usually call it Nederland but it's DL and all. Which make of bike do you ride? They are a necessity there.
The reason I wanted Gazelle is that I had one for years when I lived there and I didn't bring it home when I moved back. I have surprisingly and deeply missed it ever since. Over the years since I and have purchased two new bikes which don't even come close to how good the Gazelle was. I rode the shit out of that thing, threw it around, loaded it up with shopping, the cat, boxes, had several slips and falls etc. - I just repaired it and it just kept going with no problems. I loved it. I had no car the entire time I was living there just that magic bike.
I used to see Willem-Alexander riding around Groningen quite a bit in the late nineties/early 2000s. I remember one time looking at his bike as he went past and noticing it was Gazelle. He was also with brothers on their bikes too sometimes. Forgot to check their bikes out. It was a bit shocking and bizarre to me to see them like that - every single time it happened. Very cool.
Anyway I can't wait and thank you all.

Not gay at all, but if you are going to be riding it on the road at all I'd go for a brighter colour. Mine is the brightest dayglo flourescent orange I could find. Like the one linked but brighter. Was originally charcoal grey which I think is a reallh bad colour for a bike.

Lock it or lose it. Bike theft is HUGE right now. More popular than cars. A bicycle is stolen every 30 seconds in the United States. That's roughly two million bikes a year, totaling about $350 million
You might want to look into theft insurance while you are at it.

That looks like a fantastic option for someone who lives in Bankstown or Broadmeadows R15. No-one would want it or miss it. I'm impressed.
That's excellent advice R16. I've got a hefty Dutch bike lock which I used for years in The Netherlands. Highly recommended. The bike also comes with built in wheel locking.

OP, I would live to offer up a bitchy, witty comment about the bike, but I can't. It's a great-looking bike, and I commend your excellent taste. Perfect choice.

It's a lovely color, but bright shiny colors are actually more visible, and are therefore more road-safe.
Get one in Safety Orange, OP!

r6 Hills are a challenge, not a problem and good for the heart.
I would get red or the most visible color to make it easiest for drivers to see you.

R14 Gazelle all the way, baby!! They are excellent and truly sturdy. Sort of like the Toyota of bicycles.

r11 Not just "Netherlands"? I thought we were supposed to lose the "The," as we did with "The Ukraine."

No, R23 — I understand why you might think that. But unlike “the Ukraine”, which made it sound more like a region rather than a sovereign country, The Netherlands refers to the “lands” part of the name.
In Dutch, the official name is “Koninkrijk der Nederlanden”, using the plural form.
So the article is really part of the name.
