Clarence Thomas still corrupting
[quote]The details in the latest ProPublica report on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas would be hard to believe were it not for everything we already know about the far-right jurist. The piece begins by noting a 2018 donor summit organized by billionaires Charles and David Koch, and attended by “some of the richest people in the country.”
[quote]It’s not the sort of event one would ordinarily expect to find a sitting Supreme Court justice — but Thomas took a private jet to the event anyway.
And needless to say he didn’t report this. The article is at Pro Publica but this link is to a video on MSNBC by the author who gives new details about GINNI Thomas’s links with right wing multimillionaire Leonard “Dark Money” Leo at the time of the Citizens United ruling.

Why is government so intractably broken? The voters are not doing enough to be rid of the garbage republicans who don't govern for the people and stack the courts with the stooges of capitalist plutocrats.

drip drip drip drip drip drip drip. What entity can deal with this? The only justice ever impeached was Justice Samuel Chase in 1805. By the House. The Senate acquitted and he was not removed.

Why wouldn't he?
It's not like there are any consequences to his corruption.

"Whore" is the correct word to apply to Thomas.
And, his activity is infinitely more sordid than any whore who barters sexual activity for money, lavish trips, whatever.
At least that whore is exchanging what belongs to them - their own body. And, in the bargain, they don't utter a false oath.
Thomas, on the other hand, is exchanging his physical presence at these so-called "speaking" engagements" because of a position granted to him by Art III of the US Constitution, a thing that belongs to the people.
Donald Trump did the same thing. He whored-out himself and the Office of the US Presidency to any John who could line his pockets or line his ego.
It's time to apply the term "whore" to where it rightly belongs- USSC Justice Thomas and Trump.

Don't tell me he's the only one, either. Alito? Who paid off Kavanaugh's debts?

This one fought for the privilege of securing a lifetime appointment and declared the clearance process a high tech lynching only to get seated and spend his career defecating on the American people
It was not a high tech lynching, it was a job interview and this one, along with his colleague who had a staff member flash white power signs behind the nominee and who screamed veiled threats about "what goes around comes around"failed the interview but got seated regardless.

He's a horrible human being and so is his wife, and I am not saying we shouldn't pay attention to this, but we have become so focused on Thomas's blatant wrong doing, we don't look hard enough at Roberts, Alito, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. They're all dirty. Roberts is the guy who wrote the Citizens United opinion. Every so-called conservative on this court is filthy. Biden needs to clean house. The same way Kennedy "resigned" we should force Roberts to resign, along with Alito and Thomas. Appoint a tough son of abitch as chief Justice. Someone like Eric Holder. He'd have Kavanaugh peeing himself, and Gorsuch would simply quit. Amy would stick around because she is prayerful and she appears to have avoided the mess.

I just got hired for a position that I really wanted and needed.
I can't imagine securing this job which required testing and a background check if during the interview I blubbered like a whiny bitch and threatened the interviewer with, ' what goes around, cums around".

R18, you raise an important point. You got tested and had a background check and had to jump through hoops and what a lot of people seem to overlook is that these fuckers work for us. We hire them. We pay their salaries.

Thanks r23. Here’s the quote in full.
"The job is not worth doing for what they pay," Thomas said during a speech in 2001, The New York Post reported at the time. "The job is not worth doing for the grief. But it is worth doing for the principle."
Thomas was speaking to the Bar Association in Savannah, Georgia, according to the Post. In the speech, which was resurfaced this week by The Nation writer Jeet Heer, Thomas discussed his efforts to gain custody of his then-10-year-old grandnephew. The Post reported Thomas cried during the speech and thanked his lawyer who worked on the custody battle.
In 2001, the salary for an associate Supreme Court justice was $178,300, while the chief justice made $186,300. As of 2023, the salary for an associate justice is $285,400, while the chief justice makes $298,500.

I read between the lines. The fact he made that statement coupled with the fact a megadouche has been paying his bills for decades, I concluded Thomas believes he is not being paid his worth

Thomas has attended at least two Koch donor summits, putting him in the extraordinary position of having helped a political network that has brought multiple cases before the Supreme Court.

I've never liked Ken Burns even though I know he's brought forward topics in his documentaries that needed to be brought forth.
Whenever I've watched interviews of him, he comes across as so sanctimonious and with a self- congratulatory air about him.

Ginny’s photobucket publish-on-demand photo albums are the ultimate smug Karen gift. Most of these women just send a torturously long, excruciatingly detailed, and infinitely narcissistic Christmas Card letter every year, but Ginni makes an ALBUM.
