Now this looks like fun. Sorta like X-Men while The Boys feels like Justin League. I am excited to see this, even if Arnold and Maria’s talentless crotchfruit is in it as “Golden Boy”.
“Gen V”- set in the same universe as “The Boys”

I'll only watch if the audience reception is good and if there's a gay storyline, I'm a bit burned out on superhero shows.
So glad Chance Perdomo gets to do his natural accent here, he sounded insufferable with that fucking Keira Knightley lower jaw British accent in Sabrina.

You really only watch if there’s gay storylines? I’ve never understood that mentality

Obligatory not r1.
But, I get this if the reasoning is that I'm iffy on the show and could take or leave it, but would give it a chance if there were a tie breaker which prompted me to give it a shot - no matter what that extra inducement was, hot guy, gay storyline, actor I really liked.
There are a lot of shows about which I am ambivalent, but would have given it a shot if there were something I found intriguing.

I assume Patrick is showing his lovely ass.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 20, 2023 8:55 PM |
Has he shown his lovely ass, r4?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 20, 2023 9:38 PM |
R5 no and that won’t happen.

[quote]You really only watch if there’s gay storylines?
I didn't say that. I said I'll watch this particular superhero show if the audience reception is good AND if it features a gay storyline (note the two qualifiers) because I am burned out in superhero shows. Obviously I watch other shows without gay content all the time, which is also partly the reason I can't find the time to watch this one unless it's good and has gays in it.

Justina League is my new drag name.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 29, 2023 9:16 PM |
I binged the first three episodes last night. I think it's great. The Boys never shies away from peen and gore, two of my favorite things.

There's a gigantic cock in episode one.

Patrick doesn't have to have talent, he's hot and has a rich Daddy.

A gender-swapping character, how very!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 7, 2023 10:35 AM |
I’m enjoying it.
Were Golden Boy and Andre sleeping together? Just the way they said “I love you” to each other. Plus, Andre mentioned that he was crushing on A Train, who must be a speedster in bed. Plus, Cate mentioned that Golden Boy had a bunch of dildos.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 8, 2023 8:15 PM |
Well the writers sure love patting themselves on the back about some twist.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 10, 2023 12:31 AM |
I like it better than The Boys so far.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 10, 2023 12:59 AM |
The thing I don't like about both series is the unnecessary gore used only for shock value.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 10, 2023 2:28 AM |
I feel bad that the Nephilim in Supernatural was reduced in this show to beating his own balls with a baseball bat.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 10, 2023 2:33 AM |
I actually care more for most of these characters than the ones in The Boys. At least for now.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 12, 2023 7:07 AM |
They keep implying that Golden Boy was bi. Hope they show us the goods in a flashback or something.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 12, 2023 7:58 AM |
Golden ‘Shower’ Boy?
I’m enjoying this show so far. Interesting characters but the writing feels like a rip off from a New Mutants/X-men storyline from the comics.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 12, 2023 8:58 AM |
I can't wait for the next season of The Boys. I'll give this a go tonight instead,
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 12, 2023 9:00 AM |
R13 I mean...he's okay. I wouldn't call him hot. Not much of an actor either. I take a little bit of joy in that.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 12, 2023 11:01 AM |
I'm on episode 2 now and it's really good. It's certainly held my attention.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 12, 2023 12:40 PM |
Latest episode adds in a nice twist and a few ‘what the’ moments needing to be answered. I think it’s getting better every episode.

Totally agree R26. I've watched all the available episodes and this show is EXCELLENT!
I love The Boys and this is in that same quirky, humorous, violent and shocking style. It's really good, very well done and quite unexpected. I didn't even notice it on Prime until I saw this thread.
If anyone liked The Boys then you should definitely give this a watch.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 17, 2023 12:18 AM |
[quote]They keep implying that Golden Boy was bi.
Isn't every character BI in this show? They have seem to go out of their way to establish that every one of our main characters is meant to be sexually fluid.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 17, 2023 12:22 AM |
R28 They certainly aren't going to have any pretty guy just be straight - unless he's the villain, of course.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 17, 2023 12:26 AM |
Just watched the latest available episode and this show is as good as The Boys. I'm loving it.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 21, 2023 5:10 AM |
R22 You're thinking of Pisser, the one with the pressure-washing dick.

by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 21, 2023 7:59 PM |
R32 He should have been in Succession - he comes from a newspaper family.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 21, 2023 8:38 PM |
I thought it was just too sick and ultraviolent by the end--even more so than The Boys. There's a weird kind of redeeming cheerfulness and humorousness to The Boys that this ultimately was missing. I guess I also don't like seeing college age kids being violently slaughtered on campus--it's too real.
I was disappointed also there wasn't enough male eye candy. Patrick Schwarzenegger is very attractive, but he isn't in it much; although his character burns off his clothing when he uses his fire superpowers, you insanely get no good shots of his nudity. The sexiest guy was actually an adult named Derek Wilson, who plays smarmy mega-asshole Tek Knight; but he was also barely in it, and also had no nudity (though you get to watch him fuck multiple inanimate objects with his clothes on).
The other actors are pretty forgettable, although there's a wonderful young woman with the unlikely name of Lizze Broadway who plays the size-changing Emma. She looks like a young, prettier Joan Blondell, and is enormously appealing. The actor who plays Ambrose in "Sabrina" is in this, and he's interesting looking (if not that attractive). The most depressing actors were Asa Germann, who looks like a second-rate and homelier Evan Peters, as Sam; and Maddie Phillips, who looks like a second-rate and homelier Emma Roberts, as Cate. (You know you're reaching the bottom of the barrel when you're a second-rate and homelier Emma Roberts!)

I thought it was great.
Kinda ended on a cliff-hanger though.
At least it's been renewed for season 2!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 5, 2023 5:48 AM |
[quote] a wonderful young woman with the unlikely name of Lizze Broadway who plays the size-changing Emma.
Yes she has been terrific.
I skip the usual superhero stuff but The Boys universe shows how a world with super powers would probably actually be. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 5, 2023 5:59 AM |
I thought it was a mixed bag. Production values were great. Lots of logical gaps and absurdities, especially in the final episode.
Did that guy grow his dick back, btw?
It was the first time I ever felt on the side of that psycho Homelander about anything. I disliked the series lead (not the actress, but that character) and was secretly satisfied when she got the old eye beam treatment.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 5, 2023 5:01 AM |
R37, that did sorta bug me. Exploding his dick like that means he would have bled out in minutes. Yet the next episode he was walking around fine like nothing happened. Did he have regen powers in addition to mind control powers?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 5, 2023 5:26 AM |
What on earth did you dislike about the lead character? The actress was great, the character was interesting... I don't get why you were "satisfied" that she may have been brutally murdered.
(not a spoiler: she wasn't... she's now in The Woods, trapped with the rest of the gang)
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 5, 2023 5:28 AM |
I found her very annoying. Again, the character, not the actress.
Characters brutally murdered in a fictional drama are not actually brutally murdered in real life. It's all pretend.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 5, 2023 5:36 AM |
Tek-Knight needs some tight boyholes to fuck.
Alas, supposedly he's phobic.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 5, 2023 5:49 AM |
Marie’s blood powers are interesting. Granted, I don’t read comics anymore, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a character with powers like that.
Looked like Emma might be figuring out she can use her powers without the puking? I hope so. She’s the best character.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 5, 2023 11:47 AM |
Blood bending was in Avatar the Last Airbender, which was not just for kids.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 5, 2023 1:18 PM |
I think they made a point of saying in The Boys that every super comes with a standard package of enhanced strength, invulnerability, and healing—levels can vary.
When will Marie figure out that she can kill anyone by stopping the blood flow to the brain?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 5, 2023 1:48 PM |
Marie can kill anyone by just exploidng their heads, like Victoria Neuman (who has the same superpower) does: she just didn;t realize before she could do it.
It was suggested in the final episode that her meeting with Neuman has allowed Marie to figure out how she can do much more with her powers than she had previously thought, just as Emma discovered in the last episode she actually doesn't need to purge or binge to activate her size-changing powers.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 5, 2023 3:44 PM |
I didn't find the lead character annoying at all.
And season 2 is going to be LIT.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 5, 2023 9:09 PM |
I was enjoying the show until the always winning fugly ass Homelander show up. I despise that character and the way he’s written. Wasn’t planning on watching the next season of Seth Rogan’s Boys and don’t think I’ll be back for Gen V’s n second season.

Yes.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 5, 2023 9:49 PM |
Yeah, you kind of do. They casually mention a ton of stuff from the "Boys" series and all its world-building, so you might be a little lost if you don't have any of that background.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 5, 2023 11:02 PM |
R48 It certainly helps. As said before, plot points from The Boys are discussed, and key characters make cameos without any explanation. Still, the main storyline is about the school and if anything, just make you more interested in watching The Boys.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 5, 2023 11:36 PM |
R47 Well, you are supposed to hate him.

Can Neuman kill Homelander? Because he seemed to think she couldn't and she didn't seem too confident about it either.
