I think I like it.

Long but so fascinating. I love that she has a system for her porcelain business, very clever. It’s interesting to hear how she puts a room together even if I don’t like individual pieces or patterns, she explains the color theory behind her choices and it can be adapted to your own tastes. A real education.

Hmmm...third green dining room recently. Greg's is the first. Then the dining room in that "Rhapsody in Blue" apartment on the UES, which I loved, loved, loved. And now this one. Very nice, as green is my favorite color.

I love it! She manages to have all these interesting art objects, paintings, pillows and drapery, the carpets, etc and it doesn't look cluttered. Individual rooms have their own energy, and the colors pop on her furniture. I love the pale green dining room. I love her aesthetic. It's not just a bunch of "stuff" carefully arranged. It's really amazing.

I love green.

It’s my favorite color.

Thanks, OP!

Everything in her home seems personal. There's a story, a purpose for things being where they are. Same with her use of color.

Yes, when the description was “tabletop” designer, I expected a lot of clutter and objets d’art but it’s quite restrained.

She's obviously quite wealthy. That's a huge apartment and she raised five kids. She said there were 8 people living there and now 3 with her, her husband and one kid. She also mentions her country house when she is showing us a massive painting leaning against a wall. I didn't know you could become rich just making pottery and setting tables.

Limoge, baby. Limoge. These things are important. So many people think they know about high end home decorative stuff, but it is only the truly knowledgeable, with excellent taste and an artistic sensibility that know Marie Daage.

Limoges, truly knowledgeable r8, Limoges.

Wouldn't they just be flat, season after season?

I used to love these fancy-apartment threads, but the harder it gets to find even an affordable tiny studio without roaches or bed bugs or nutjob neighbors, the angrier I get at these peeks into privilege. If I had that kind of wealth, I would be underground about it, not on full display. I guess she's marketing her tabletop design business, but still.

I suspect her wealth doesn't come from her tabletop design business. Either her family or her husband are wealthy, I suspect.

That said, this was one of the better Homeworthy videos. I loved her way of speaking & her style (her outfit, too). English is obviously her second language (French her first), but she's really articulate and has a good English vocabulary.

I live in modest circumstances. I have a small one bedroom condo and I'm retired with less than $50,000 a year in income. I can't work for health reasons. but I do feel like no matter where you live you should try to make your environment as lovely as you can. I love to watch these for ideas. Sometimes all you need to do is paint, and find some nice lamps on eBay or at an estate sale, maybe a coffee table. I've found some very nice wall art that way too. it can give a whole new look to your rooms.

True, R13, but I think my entire apartment is about the size of her dining room.

I don't do enough with color. And I really love seeing various unique combinations that work.

by Anonymousreply 15September 21, 2023 4:06 AM

I got some decor ideas from this. Thanks OP.

Ta green dining room is so lovely.

But I like spring green or a very pale green—which is to say, not sage and not mint.

by Anonymousreply 17September 21, 2023 7:40 PM

^ CORRECTION: A green dining room is so lovely.
