I was a 16 yr old, spoiled child. One evening around 7 pm, I decided to steal my mom’s Oldsmobile 98, drive to a city an hour away, rent a hotel room (using my credit card). Nothing to do on a boring Monday night. Nothing on TV. The gravity of what I did began to set in and I felt guilty. I called 911 and told the dispatcher that I was depressed and alone in a hotel room and thinking about ending it all. Within 5 minutes the police were in my room, since I was a minor. I had a nice chat with 2 cute policemen about how I had my whole life ahead of me stuff. My dad shows up soon after and stays with me until morning. We drive home the next day. Mom is unimpressed. I go get my hair done later in the day.
A night in my life

What a cool cat you were, OP. So generous to others, never thinking of yourself. At 15 I created an free three week art fair and school for teens and got corporate sponsorship. I ran it three summers then went to Brown so I could get a good degree and also study art at RISD.

I imagine you haven't had many "lucky breaks" well the reality is your humorless snottyassed story shows your despicable character. Luck doesn't have much to do with it.

You shouldn’t share that story,OP. It really does highlight a character deficit.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing about r2.

OP what drives you to post so many ongoing stupid posts, and reply to yourself over and over. I really wish things were better for you.

This reminds me of something that happened back in St. Olaf!

R2 That sounds like it was meant to be for you. Are you still doing art?

I did something kind of similar. My dad's car didn't need a key to start it, so me and my friend pushed it out to the street and drove to a farm where people paid to stable their horses. It wasn't far maybe 2 miles out on the backroads. We saddled 2 horses and rode them until 4:00 am. We had a little pot and some Whiskey. It was beautiful, the moon was out and it was kind of cold. We were just 16. It was fun, and we didn't get caught. This was 1978.

What year was the Oldsmobile? Beautiful cars, but the models around 1990 were a little plain. Sales slowed, and they didn't maintain an appeal for younger buyers. The last Olds rolled off the line in 2004 ending a 107 year run of a rather well produced car. P. S. Glad things turned out well for you, and that you had the decency to steal your moms Olds!
