It seems like an unusual name for a website that began as a gay meeting place and clearinghouse for pointless bitchery.
But I don't know...maybe 'Datalounge' means something that has been a mystery to me all these years.

It was originally called Date-A-Lounge, a social site where you could put things up for sale, post a platonic personal ad or apply for gay-friendly jobs. I used to play online Scrabble with " a".
